Nancy Lu praising Prime Minister
Chris Luxon’s “instinctive leadership” has sparked debate about political optics, loyalty and image management in an already volatile political climate.
Now.
The Comments That Sparked The Reaction
You tell me if the actual following comments by National Party MP Nancy Lu about the Prime Minister holding an umbrella was — a tad much:
And I quote:
“This is the Christopher Luxon I know”
“4:00am start. Down at Eden Park for a big announcement”
“While people were scrambling for umbrellas”
“The Prime Minister grabbed one”
“And walked straight onto the stage — holding it over the speaker mid-speech”
“No cameras called”
“No drama”
“Just instinct”
“That’s leadership”
“Kind”
“Grounded. Energetic. Action-oriented”
“My leader”
“Our Prime Minister”
“Sometimes the smallest gestures say the most”
Political Praise Or Overreach?
That’s what she actually wrote – Now. Is it just me or is Nancy Lu hot for teacher?
Does she to want to marry the Prime Minister because I’m getting a weird sexually repressed North Korean Tinder vibe here.
Leadership Image Versus Public Perception
No one on the face of the planet has ever shown Chris Luxon that level of adoration – ever.
Not even on his honeymoon.
I’m pretty sure if you ask all the people smashed by the recent extreme weather events how good Luxon is at providing shelter – I think you’d get a very different answer.
The Optics Problem For National
I think Nancy Lu needs a cold show, a cup of tea and a lie down.
Political theatre matters in modern politics. Whether this episode fades as a social media footnote or feeds a broader perception problem for National will depend on how voters interpret gestures versus governance.
Her Drivel came across as OTT Sycophantic Adulation which to many affected by the recent weather events would find stomach turning.
It was also and most likely yet another Photo Opportunity for the Constantly Attention Seeking Often Missing in Action Part-time prime minister.
A thought had crossed my mind when I saw this photo. If Luxon saw a Homeless Person on the street during a heavy downpour would he run over with absolutely no hesitation with an umbrella or would he simply, and expectedly on his part, just ignore that homeless person????!!!! Because looking at the way he treats the poor I think he would ignore the poor person.
She said “Sometimes the smallest gestures say the most”. Well to date he has shown great contempt on the low income NZers whilst seeking Pavlova Moment Photo Opportunities.
“When it comes to global warming solutions this the Christopher Luxon I know….he offers an umbrella”
