TV1 Poll + Curia Poll show Fringes surging and Government struggling
We end terrible year of political polarisation with a Poll that highlights the radicalisation on the fringes.
The unregulated Curia Poll shows:
National – 34.2
Labour – 26.9%
Greens – 8.3%
ACT – 13%
NZF – 5.4%
MP – 5.5%
The regulated TVNZ Poll shows:
National – 37
Labour – 29
Greens -10
ACT – 8
NZF – 6
MP – 7
The Roy Morgan Poll shows Labour+Green+MP being the Government and the Talbot Polls show Labour overtaking National.
I don’t think the Labour Party is as low as these two polls suggest or National’s support is that high
What we are seeing are political backlashes as the majority suddenly understand what a National, ACT, NZF Government means.
The Greens are losing to the Māori Party while National are losing to ACT.
The Treaty Principles Referendum excites rednecks but it has outraged Māori and has done that most impossible task in politics, bring in the non-voter.
The Māori Party aren’t just taking from the existing left pool, they are motivating Māori non-voters to take a stand.
If Labour and the Māori Party put out a clear message in the Māori electorates to candidate vote Māori Party and Party vote Labour, it will create an MMP overhang the right can’t win.
ACT will not moderate their Treaty message and will continue to take reactionary voters from National AND NZF.
The weakness of NZF and the ease with which they can slip below 5% is an enormous political problem for the Right.
This was year one of this anti-Māori, anti-Treaty, anti-worker, anti-renter, anti-environment Government, wait until the economy really tanks next year to see how much angrier the electorate will get.
All National have is a slavish devotion to their donors interests, they have traded the common good for corporate interests, the voters won’t forget that.

Polls. Don’t we just love ’em. What the discourse rarely discloses is the margin of era. Take that into consideration and it tells us bugger all about the Greens, TPM, Act and NZF.
If we see Winston go down the coalition will go down. Jenna Lynch was asking some very pointed questions about the ferries yesterday and Winston Peters. They were specific so one wonders if she knows something she’s not supposed to know yet. interestingly no one has picked up on it .
Let’s hope the Left works together, encourage people to vote strategically to win the next election. That’ll be a message Labour needs to hear.
The Coalition has taken the hard calls early and support is still strong.They will have plenty of sweeteners over the next 2 years to get back into power. Luxon and co are smarter than some think despite some missteps as he tearnt the rope.
The polls (for what they are worth) show that voters like ACT or TPM whereas Labour and National are lost.
TPM are the kiss of death for Labour. As long as they have to be part of a coalition Labour can’t win .
The select committee hearing are going to tease out exactly what the Maori radicals want and believe and it’s going to terrify middle NZ
The right white radicals should be feared the most. They are already entrenched trying to fast track policy through select committee and with the radical Brownlee dictating at parliament we will soon be another Russia.
