Trumpocalypse – a moderate Republican in wolves clothing or an Orange Tyrant?

There are two schools of thought on Trump.

The first is that he is secretly a moderate Republican who is playing to the low news consuming American voter and his racism, sexism, xenophobia, offensiveness, and low brow bluster is just a dog whistle over a megaphone.  Once in place as the Republican candidate, Trump will jump to the centre and allow the Republican hatred of Clinton to rally the Republican vote while he attracts former Bernie Sanders supporters and independents.

That’s one school of thought.

The second school of thought is that he’s a batshit Megalomaniac who has dangerously harnessed popular anger and like the anti-Christ, has risen to the power like an Orange Tyrant.

I’m hoping for the former, but Trump’s bizarre attack on Cruz the morning of the Indiana Primary suggesting Cruz’s father might have had something to do with the JFK assassination is a really difficult thing to ignore.

The win has eclipsed that moment, but when you pause and consider just how fucking batshit crazy it is to suggest your opposing candidates father might have been involved in the assassination of a former President, that’s a really tough thing to put to one side isn’t it?

I’m hoping Trump is just a cynical egotist who is playing to his crowds ignorance rather than a dangerous maniac who is actively enraging his supporters to generate something terrible.

I suspect it will be Trump’s selection of running mate who will clarify what we are really facing in him as a possible President. If he selects some Republican stalwart he will be stepping to the centre and will have pulled off the greatest political swindle of the decade. If he selects Sarah Palin he’s the monster we fear.

  1. Trump-Palin sound a bit like Trampoline, a good metaphor for what to expect from Trump, oscillating between centrist and nutcase whenever it suits.

  3. He’s actually a Republican in wolf’s clothing. Wolves is a simple plural. You need a possessive here.

    Whichever form the true Trump takes, the lead up to the final selection has been nothing if not entertaining.

    For the first time (in my lifetime) an American political figure has spoken bluntly (if possibly misleadingly) and I’m curious to see what this will do to the American political process in the future. Bland? No way.

    I hate to confess it, but if the Democrats go with the Hilary monster, Monsiuer Le Trompe will make the more colourful choice for the oddly named White House.

    Just dig your fallout shelter nice and deep…

  4. Would he make Sarah have a cosmetic makeover like all the other Trump women? Would Sarah acquiesce? You know, lips, boobs, eyes… just the thought of it (shudders)

  5. No one should trust any political process we have today, so we are in the lap of the dogs, but Bernie has definitely served up some hope for moderation on policy but with corporations knocking on his door can he refuse them?

    …while it is not necessarily true Oswald was the sole hit man, but possibly the patsy for a multiple coordinated sniper attack on Kennedy… evidence points to elements in the CIA and Cuban exiles and mafia involvement in the plot for Kennedy’s assassination…if Rafael Cruz had any such associations and was there on the day it is possible he was involved in a peripheral way

  7. Don’t you find it odd that Jeb dropped out immediately after Trump made comments linking the Bush family and 911, then Cruz drops out immediately after Trump makes comments linking the Cruz family with JFK? Perhaps Trump knows too much and should keep clear of grassy knolls

Watching Cruz and Trump its not hard to understand how America allows it presidents to be mass killers, legalized assassins, country invaders, dictator supporters, racists and bigots…and that’s the good ones… America will get the president the wealthy want…American people will continue to build the Ponzi American empire…and blacks will continue to be shot by trigger happy over-weight cops…
    God Bless America yeah right…just don’t live there it dangerous to you health and well being.

    There is nothing ‘batshit crazy’ about idea that an opposing candidates father might have been involved in the assassination of a former President. Indeed, it has been repeatedly demonstrated that the ‘official’ narrative of a lone gunman carrying out the assassination is not just ‘batshit crazy’ but is impossible (just like the official narrative of 9/11).

    The American political establishment has been rotten to the core for decades and the list of prominent politicians participating in plot to have the Kennedy shot included Nixon, Rumsfeld and Bush. So why not Cruz?

    The only unusual aspect is that a candidate would publicly say something that ‘everyone’ knows but has been a taboo topic for decades. The crossing of boundaries and speaking ‘unspeakable truth’ is part of the appeal of Trump, and is why he will be assassinated if he maintains the same line.
