  1. It has been my fear since she made the admission on their conference, while announcing also new social policy, Metiria will be destroyed by the MSM and MSD, labeled ‘benefit cheat’, possibly be charged and will have to step down from politics.

Yes, Newshub made a start last night:
    http://www.newshub.co.nz/home/election/2017/08/more-questions-raised-about-metiria-turei-s-living-situation.html

But now also RNZ and others have joined in. Metiria made some damned stupid mistakes in her youthful years, but so do many others.

Now it comes back to bite her, she did not expect it to turn out this way, I think.

She was naive and out of touch with the mood of the silent majority out there, admitting she had other flatmates that she had not declared in the 1990s. Now it shows she even gave wrong info to the electoral authorities, which is probably another kind of offence in the eyes of the MSM and public.

Decades now of social division, of governments ruling by pitting one person against the other, has resulted in this total intolerance towards ‘dishonesty’, especially by those on benefits.

    Remember:

James Shaw will be in charge now, looking for a new co-leader, and then it may be the chance of Julie Ann Genter, so they can jointly steer the Greens to the right, and firmly position them in the ‘centre’, the new social security policy, which would probably never see the light of day in a coalition government, will be just feel good bits of policy for the less well off, that may come in drips, not more.

    1. “James Shaw will be in charge now, looking for a new co-leader, and then it may be the chance of Julie Ann Genter, so they can jointly steer the Greens to the right, and firmly position them in the ‘centre’,…”

      My thoughts too.

Shaw and Genter…leading the new oh-so-smoooth Pale Green Party.

      1. I dread the thought of it, but ‘Pale Green Party’ I read before somewhere. Let us pray Metiria has stamina and does not throw in the towel. Her willingness to pay back overpaid benefit is likely to stop MSD launching a full investigation and laying charges.

  2. Frank, you have my support. I’ll email you shortly to help me with a letter to the editor.

  3. I’ve emailed my local Labour MP and Ardern about this.
I’m furious that they have let the stupid media decide for them who can be in a future Cabinet.

    Gutless wonders!

    1. Gutless indeed, this makes me so angry. Metiria has more credibility than any other politicians right now.

  4. Gosh the media never did find Jason Ede, but when they want to find out something ridiculous about the opposition then no stone left unturned to bring out the (non) scandal. (probably helped by SIS, like when they lied about Phil Goff).

  5. We really are living in the era of Dirty politics…Metiria T is sure coming under sustained attack from the Right Wing media rip-off drones. I wonder when Seven Sharp hop head Mike Hoskins will come up with information relating to Metiria’s school days and how she cheated on the netball court.
In the eyes of Hoskings, she represents all the things he can’t stand. She is a woman! She is Maori! She is a lawyer! She is even educated! She cares about the poor! She is not a fan of John Key and she doesn’t even pull young males pony tails. And no doubt in eyes of Hosking she is not rich!
We used to be able to compare Hoskins with Henry as to who was the biggest idiot now only one idiot is left on TV…Hoskins. For how long will TV One fail to ease the pain for TV One viewers? When will they stop his crap opinions? I’ve stopped watching Seven Sharp.
