I was a child when I first saw Star Wars A New Hope and I still remember the thrill that coursed through my mind when Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia turned every previous female lead in a movie I had seen on its head…
…she wasn’t the helpless Princess waiting for a Knight in shining Jedi armour riding a Millennium Falcon to save her, she was the hero saving them!
It was her fearlessness and courage as that character that changed popular culture in a way that would impact millions of us around the world and that’s why her death has had such a deep impact.
Tina Fey says it best…

Time that death march took someone evil that the planet is better without, and I have more than a few suggestions. Carrie had spirit to the end, and she gave of it freely. Missed her from the second the news arrived. RIP . and Debbie.
