  1. The reason farmers have so much power in NZ is because city people dont pay their way in terms of exports. Its a 70/30 rural/city split for export income and that 70% is generated by just 20,000 farmers and rural workers.

Farmers enable the purchase of all those goodies sold at The Warehouse. When city people generate export income in proportion to their percentage of the population they will have power, until that time it doesnt matter which party is in parliament farmers will have the economic power.

    1. The Green party should have a policy of a ‘capped’ profit margin for the domestic market regarding farm produce ,,,, versus the present situation where we pay the same price as whatever Fonterra can flog it off overseas for.

A fair mark-up for New Zealanders and fuck the ‘international price’ price gouging that ‘the markets’ shaft us with.

95% of dairy is exported so the ‘lost profit’ burden is Swt Fck All …..

This SFA cost of lower prices for New Zealand consumers would be partial compensation for the pollution and damage to our rivers and water-ways that the farmers have gotten away with ….

And the Greens should / could have other policy’s to repair & restore our degraded rivers ,,, without farmers being punished.
