  1. Another gang leader said the ban may help members to break away from the influence of the gang by giving them an excuse.
The hands off treatment has lead to the gangs gain in power and prestige .The police in Australia have got the upper hand by being tough we have nothing to lose. The fact many gang members are maori has been behind the soft approach

    1. Sorry Trevor, but Australias war on bikies is failing and has actually increased their numbers and has caused their spread into NZ, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Note also that Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia all have the death penalty. Also I think you will find that poverty is a bigger reason for joining gangs than race. The “war” on drugs and gangs is a failure, emulating Australia and the U.S. will achieve nothing.

      1. Your article is I teresti g but it does say the gangs have been hit hard by Australian laws which is why they need to expand out of Australia. Instead the NZ police were not I blowed in the conference which says a lot about our current police chief and Labour’s approach to these people

  2. While your ideas are sensible you only need a few rednecks like Frank the Tank & his “Was sticking up for gangs and ram raiders worth it?” slogans that are not based on reality which then get amplified by a biased MSM & swallowed in bulk by an ignorant population to destroy any chance of a solution that will benefit the whole community. Obviously, there seems to be a majority of people who are happy to ignore the conditions (civil rights) of others (see your food bank article) as long as they get their needs met & are happy to live in blissful ignorance of the fact that their privilege is the major cause of dissatisfaction in society that drives people to gangs, drugs, etc.

  3. No troll they weren’t and if you want people to rehabilitate you have to have money to do it, he said the money came from the proceeds of crime isn’t that what this money should be for. Now I have just been to a tangihanga, and gang members were present if the Police came in and tried to take patches of the members all hell would have broken lose and there was women and children at this tangihanga. Also, the person who passed was not a gang member. But I can tell you those of us that are not gang members would not be on the side of the police if they choose to act like this, we would be telling them to piss of. You can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your whanau.

  5. The $2.75mill was from the proceeds of crime fund but that’s for victims of crime not the perpetrators.
