I loath it.
What The Real Housewives of Auckland represent is American neoliberal cultural colonialism that promotes a mono-culture of narcissism and hyper individualism from inside a wealth bubble 99% can’t attain.
This is the soft power of the American Empire invading our media broadcasting and we welcome it with open arms.
America doesn’t care that we buy our computers, phone or flat screen TVs from China, they care that we watch their cultural values. Why can’t and why shouldn’t we be demanding NZ content rather than this forced duplication of selfish American values?
This is why the TPPA is so dangerous. It forces us to adopt American culture and simply be a transmission point for it. This is the sort of cultural imperialism we face.
Rather than happily cheering it along, we should recognise it for the virus it is and stamp it out.

Hah, I wonder, are there still any “real housewives”, you know the traditional types??? I do not think there are many. As for that program, it is enough for me what I have already learned about it, to consider it utter trash devoid of any “cultural” value.
And having read some “articles” on The Spinoff, they are often so brief, shallow, poorly researched and backed up by little factual evidence proving the point, they will NEVER last with that sort of website. But then again, there may be “real Auckland housewives” that fall for spinning out of orbit together with the Spinoff crowd, they may be the kind of passengers they look for to travel with.

You can add to the list anything about the Kardasians, E-News, CNN, Fox News, and the list goes on. It is just plain dumb and selfish crap that many seem to be buying into. If these are values Kiwis aspire to then it is no wonder the current government are in power. Sad and depressing – and aggravating!!!
The Americans don’t want the TPPA any more than New Zealanders do..when Trump gets elected it will not be an issue he won’t sign it..it won’t go through before Obama leaves office..
