Green MP Benjamin Doyle resigns suddenly as MP, police confirm probes into threats
Police say they have undertaken investigations into 10 reported threats against Green Party MP Benjamin Doyle.
The confirmation comes months after Doyle was embroiled in a social media firestorm after posting controversial comments online.
Doyle announced today they are leaving Parliament, in a sudden resignation months after saying they refused to be “disappeared by hate” and did not consider standing down amid questions over their social media posts.
Asked tonight about a police review of threats against Doyle, Detective Inspector Warren Olsson, National Criminal Investigations Group, said there had been 10 reports under investigation.
“Police have issued formal warnings to four individuals for breaches of the Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015.
Ugh.

Remember, the insinuations and allegations smeared against them by Toxic Hate Trolls were that Benjamin was a part of some sex abuse pedophile cult who was opening their own child up for exploitation.
The ‘evidence’ was a blue squiggly line which was supposedly pedophile hieroglyphics.
To make such shocking insinuations demands a high level of evidence, they had none.
Ian Wishart, Annie O’Brian (supported by Damien Grant let’s not forget) and Rhys Williams all need to take a very long hard look in the mirror at the serious allegations they made with fuck all evidence.

They were just exercising their ‘free speech’ – which is very important to them, supposedly.
3% of the population is wildly overrepresented in Parliament. There are issues more important to the mass of New Zealanders.
When I heard the Green Party had advised Doyle to delete their personal instagram account and they had not followed that advice I suspected Doyle wasn’t up to the job.
Whether we like it or not being an MP is an impossibly hard job. A good decision to go as it gives the Green Party the opportunity to blood someone else.

Unfortunately, agree very odd. I hope they/them is alright. I also hope that nothing shitty is going on. It would be good to know exactly why Ben resigned so suddenly, as at this point it is anyone’s guess.

While your headline and article descriptions are correct the Greens need to select candidates with the appropriate political values and a lifestyle more average people can relate to if they want to avoid future situations like this. Any farmer knows that you can only move a mob of animals at the speed of the slowest animal and while we hope that humans are smarter you only need to read your comment section to know that introducing an unnecessary factor will delay any progress.
