  1. The Right always wants to dismantle the State, and yet their herons, the billionaire class, needs/uses/manipulates the State to help serve and or protect their interests. As for Covid, most people are long since over that…it really only means something when the govt or media babbles on about it again.

    1. It is pretty stunning how long it took for people to wake up to that fact. I mean I guess maybe they always knew and just decided to turn a blind eye, because it wasn’t exactly subtle.

      “Here’s a pain killer that makes you feel great! (oh there might be a few little side effects like addiction but don’t worry about it)”

    1. I don’t believe the solution will come from a new party, and Gary admits to not having the political answer. The majority of Kiwi need to come round to seeing what he and a few others are saying. Achieving that light bulb moment when you recognise that your grand, or Great grandparents achieved things like the house purchase on 1 or 1.2 wages. Here’s hoping social media helps build the understanding

  3. The Aussies come out of it all looking happier than us.
    They didn’t have a young female Prime minister during covid, to blame for every perceived ill.
    They had a right wing dim-wit and they are enjoying no longer having him as PM I suppose.
    Get off social media and do what one weekend news item suggests, get a good hobby.
    Creativity will make you happier and is better for your brain.

I think before we all get wiped out and hopefully that will be by the inexorable physics of the planet we need to look to the good in everybody and warm to that and concurrently be aware of those who are dead inside with only a facade giving the impression of a heart and a soul that is essential to be a human, able to feel compassion and make some sacrifice for others when help is needed and wanted. That would make the coming days and years even decades the best there ever have been in the word.

    We may need to carry out a high level of caring every few months somewhere in our own locations not just rare emergencies – could we do it over and over?

I would say the reasons the aussies are happier is because they are one and a half times wealthier than us because they didn’t let their unions get dismantled, new aussies have to join the union to work, there is greater solidarity and more of the 90 percent identify as an aussie battler rather than just an aussie. Or it could be that it’s just a nation of 25million standing around a huge hole in the ground having a BBQ.
