The humourless gelded woke Stuff reviewers are VERY grumpy at Ricky Gervais…

Ricky Gervais’ Netflix special is a desperate last gasp from a flailing comedian

We are about three minutes into Ricky Gervais’s latest Netflix special – SuperNature – when he makes the joke about “women comedians”.

Ummmm, it was the most watched stand up special on Netflix of the Year, I’m not sure Ricky is desperate, nor that this is his last gasp OR that he is a flailing comedian.

I don’t think the humourless gelded woke Stuff reviewer understands the concept of ‘success’ or ‘comedy’.

But then again, working for Stuff will probably do that to you.

Ricky’s latest hilarious stand up offering on Netflix is as controversial as all good comedy should be.  Gervais like Chappelle have been cancelled by puritan woke censors who claim their jokes against the Trans community amount to a hate crime.

This attempt to discredit the intellectual power and social commentary gold that both comedians present is driven by a belief that good satire should ‘never punch down’, but the problem with that argument is that the puritan woke censors  and their identity politics dogma IS the dominant cultural now, so critiquing the middle class woke’s virtue signalling is EXACTLY the job of comedy.

The joke…

“Well, his penis.’ ‘Her penis, you fucking bigot!’

…perfectly sums up the crazy militancy and intellectual brittleness of the Woke’s demands over Trans ideology that has plagued that debate to the point where people don’t want anything to do with the toxicity and cancellation malice of the woke.

It’s like that scene in 1984 when O’Brien is torturing Winston by holding up his hand and demanding ‘How many fingers am I holding up’. O’Brien is holding up 4 fingers but telling Winston it’s 5 fingers and he keeps torturing Winston until he sees 5 fingers.

That what the woke are attempting over Trans ideology, by demanding on threat of cancellation and social banishment that we see what they see. Anyone who claims to see 4 fingers when the woke are telling us there are 5 fingers must be burnt at the stake as a heretic for crimes against woke dogma.

There’s an interesting cultural disconnect occurring between the woke gatekeepers at mainstream media and the populist masses.

Take Ricky Gervais and the Heard/Depp defamation case.

In both cases the woke mainstream media gatekeepers attacked Gervais for his satire and they attacked Depp because all men lie about abuse.

What did the people say though?

Elon Musk has waded in on the debate around Ricky Gervais’ new stand-up special.

Last week, The Office creator released his new special SuperNature, which faced criticism for jokes targeting transgender people. It was then condemned as “dangerous, anti-trans rants masquerading as jokes” by LGBTQ+ advocacy organisation GLAAD.

On Sunday, The Atlantic staff writer Conor Friedersdorf tweeted a screenshot from review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes highlighting the disparity between SuperNature’s critic and audience scores. The special has a 14 per cent overall rating with critics, but 92 per cent with audiences.

…this is interesting. The vast, vast, vast majority loved Ricky’s comedy special and saw his commentary about Trans activists as the very sharp satire it was while the mainstream media woke gatekeepers shat all over it.

The same dynamics were at play with the Depp/Heard case. Woke msm gatekeepers have already screamed this is a huge miscarriage of justice and have refused to see it as a backlash to the #MeToo ‘BELIEVE ALL WOMEN’ mantra, yet the people have spoken.

The TikTok hashtag #IStandWithAmberHeard has amassed more than 8 million views, #JusticeForJohnnyDepp is at 15 billion views.

The disconnect between the Puritan Woke media gatekeepers and the masses becomes even more detached than ever before and this means bad faith actors and Facebook hate algorithms will step into the vacuum of news and opinion.

Meanwhile, the planet burns and the rich get richer. Maybe, just maybe, middle class woke micro aggression policing virtue signals aren’t helping?
