  1. From their “About” page;

    “The Spinoff is an online magazine and custom content creator. We employ some of New Zealand’s best non-fiction writers to create smart, shareable content.”

    “Shareable?

    Shouldn’t the criteria be “informative content”? Or am I just old fashioned in my tastes? *sighs*

    Also from their “About” page;

    “In addition to The Spinoff, we create custom content for businesses like Barkers, Flight Centre and Rugby Pass. We work collaboratively with brands to formulate a content strategy which will engage audiences, helping capture and sustain an audience’s attention.”

    Sorry, but it’s unclear. What do they mean by “creat[ing] custom content for businesses like Barkers, Flight Centre and Rugby Pass”?

    Do they write content for in-house magazines and/or websites owned by Barkers, Flight Centre and Rugby Pass?

    Or they they “create custom content for businesses like Barkers, Flight Centre and Rugby Pass” which is then published on Spinoff’s website, and passed of as a journalistic piece?

    The former would simply be Barkers, Flight Centre and Rugby Pass outsourcing their editorial needs, which they then use in-house.

    The latter would be more problematic if it is not clearly labelled as an advertorial.

    1. I’m extremely glade political messaging is banned during voting. Business lobbiest on the other don’thave those restrictions so we end up with our sponsored public narrative.

  2. “‘future of journalism’ but what most don’t seem to understand about the Spin Blog is that it is a cash for copy site”….that pretty much sums up all main stream journalism/media.

  3. Wow, delivering the Taxpayers’ Union a score and win by scoring an own goal, spinning out of control through the universe.

    That says it all for me.
