Scott Morrison: Ex-Australia PM held five additional portfolios, Albanese says
Australia’s former PM Scott Morrison secretly held five roles in the ministry, the current Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says.
He described his predecessor’s actions as an “unprecedented trashing of our democracy”.
Mr Morrison is facing calls to resign as an MP following the revelations, which began emerging on Monday.
But he has defended his actions, saying it was during the Covid pandemic and he “acted in good faith in a crisis”.
On Tuesday Mr Albanese said he had been told by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet that Mr Morrison became joint minister for the health, finance, treasury, home affairs and resources portfolios in the two years before losing power in May.
This “deliberately undermined the checks and balances that are so important and essential for our democracy”, Mr Albanese said.
Firstly, let’s just appreciate that when the feral anti-vaxx lunatic fringe in NZ scream that Jacinda is a fascist and manipulating democracy into some dangerous police state, just cast an eye over at what Scott Morrison ACTUALLY did and appreciate how false that narrative about Jacinda really is!
Morrison became a stealth Minister by being secretly sworn in as the Minister for 5 different Ministries without the actual Minister’s knowledge.
In one case Morrison over rode the Minister to stop a controversial energy bill, in other cases he was secretly making decisions on his own.
It is such an odd decision by Morrison and is so glaring in its abuse of power, it’s difficult to fully appreciate.
His argument is that Covid sickness could have knocked out Ministers and this is why he was sworn in, which is fine, but why make it secret?
Where is the check and balance if the Prime Minister has been secretly sworn in as Minister of numerous Ministries?
The speed with which power in Australia could be immediately centralised with no oversight is breathtaking and a very clear reminder to us in NZ of how quickly the Australians are prepared to tie their Kangaroo down sport, the millisecond they are threatened.
Once the climate crisis burns Australia off the face of the planet, we will be swamped by Australians fleeing here.

And this is amazing – and I thought it would only be the public that didn’t know but not even the Ministers knew. And those who were working with the PM plus – could they be charged with treason? Enemies of the state with a mentally-ill, maladjusted PM? How would they have been regarded if they became whistle-blowers? Is that why Oz doesn’t want to support our Julian A? Once you start doing right, Right-leaning people, then you would be expected to do it again, and even left-leaning people might agree with that sort of right.

These anti-demicratic actions and decisions were made at the time of the global pandemic. The Prime Minister used his discretionary power to amass more power than he would have otherwise done, and executed the necessary directives to other Ministers in line with the best interests of the Australian people. If John Key was the Prime Minister of New Zealand during the pandemic and he’d done the same thing, he would be Knighted! Oh wait a minute, he was Knighted anyway, wasn’t he?
