Australia faces billions in compensation for Native Land Title. Yesterday The High Court upheld a ruling about the compensation component of the Land Title awarding the aboriginal claimants $2.5 million in compensation broken down into 3 parts. One is for disconnection from land, one is like a fine, the 3rd and most important bit is the economic compensation which is $1.5m for a 1 mile strip of land, multiply that by all the towns and mines and Austrailian states is literally on the hook for billions.
