I’ve been thinking …. it’s a damn shame The Standard is driven by ego
…. whether the competing egos of ‘that broad church Left
(shit! I initially spelt that chruch … a la crutch)
….. whether it be the bubble-istas (probably most of whom you could check out on the set of Beck Benchas
…… or just whether its down to its long-suffering, well-intentioned saviour Lynne (or Lyn or whatever differentiates the male and the female in the relatioship …. I’ve never been so struck up as to differentiate, tho’ I am familiar with the Northern Indian efforts).
If TDB and TS could enter into discussions (such as to allow a dynamic Open Mike on TDB), and such that TS was limited to it’s true cause (rather than it being not only for good cause, but also allowing it’s philanthropic people to tell us all how wonderful they are and display their often fucked up suckit and see approach) Life could be good.
Why Lynne (or Lyn??) You’re a brick! You’ve paid your dues (like, and unlike so many others).
God Your gorgeous!.
But isn’t it about time the Left got past all that shit (going forward)
Meantime, I think I’ll just read and refrain, and lament some of the many that have dropped out – be they Phil’s or others
well at least we have here to come to when we get pissed off..if ‘Open Mic’ had a faster put up it would allow for more dialogue
…. and what a nice surprise to see Steven Joyce’s absolute bullshit challenged on ‘The Nation’ this morning. And to also see that even Winston believes (that since we’ve allowed things to sink so low as to normalise slavery; false promises and fraud – as opposed to “mis-selling” in our tertiary education sector) the ripped-off should be compensated and given amnesty. I know of cases where those ripped off have been hustled out of the country (deported) so fast it left me wondering why various agencies couldn’t have acted as expeditiously when the fraud was being committed!.
Never mind though – I’m keeping contact and track of their (the ripped-off) whereabouts.
What an embarrassing bloody performance. I’m surprised he hasn’t cottoned on to the fact that he’s ALREADY managed to trash NZ’s reputation in the tertiary education sector, and a little later this year, I can promise him it’s about to get a lot worse.
Both Bernard Hickey, Jane Young, Winston, and even that Alfred E Neuman muppett got it about right. (not sure why I have a mental block remembering Peddy Gear’s name …. Alfred E = Paddy Gower … I think maybe it’s the same oversized ego with a sense of entitlement that afflicts Steven Joyce’s mates)
WHAT A FRIKKEN MUPPET!
How about Joyce contrasting the overseas students debacle with the Filipino workers? He’s right, of course, to do that, but the outcomes should be the other way around. The latter forged their own papers but were given a chance to re-comply and stay, whereas the former are wholly blameless but get kicked out! The commentators (from what I saw, anyway) didn’t pick up on that. Gower had a go but could’ve had a field day if he’d wanted. I couldn’t believe my ears when hearing Joyce trying to spin that rubbish. That’s what he should be sacked for, if nothing else. Un-bloody-believable.

If TTPA gets passed this will be NZ
Using airborne thermal infrared spectrometers, a NASA-led team has found 25 leaks due to fracking natural gas production are contributing two-thirds of the methane emissions in a hot spot in the United States’ Four Corners region.
Using two airborne spectrometers flying 3,000 to 10,000 feet above the ground, researchers identified and measured more than 250 individual sources leaking methane plumes in the Four Regions region of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. The majority of leaks are from gas wells, storage tanks, pipelines and processing plants used in hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, operations for natural gas.
“The sources emitted the gas at rates ranging from a few pounds to 11,000 pounds (5,000 kilograms) per hour,” NASA said in a statement.
