Question? if anybody knows….
What was the fate of the old Levin psychopaedic hospital property that appears to be left to rack and ruin.
It was/is vast in area, with several wings and some adjacent fertile land.
I suppose it was probably sold off…. (I hate to mention it because if it hasn’t, there’ll now be a panic to sell it no doubt).
With a bit of love and care, it seems to me like a good candidate for the provision of emergency housing; a drug rehab centre;a pre-release centre; a remand centre; perhaps a PHO level medical centre; or various other uses. Christ!… what was once a vast piece of land, you could even shove a couple of tin shacks at its extremities to house some shackled kiddie fiddlers (under CCTV of course, monitored 500 miles away). You could even turn it into a Kapiti Xpressway/Trensmusshun Gully work camp for all those pesky ummagrunts over here taking all our jobs
But awe shit! …. I guess we couldn’t have something like that in the back yard

Also, WW1 gave NZ an opportunity to seize territory it had long-coveted in the Pacific. One important result was decades of NZ misrule in Samoa: https://rdln.wordpress.com/2011/08/28/samoa-what-new-zealand-did/
This could be NZ’s fate come September.
Comment from UK Guardian opinions on who will win snap election:
Goodness knows what is going to happen over the next few weeks however it is quickly becoming clear that May is not going to have everything her own way, much to her surprise no doubt.
I’m torn between viewing the whole sorry mess with horror or fascination, bit like picking at a scab. Whatever, there are going to be no winners, just the dysfunctional Westminster bus lumbering on, ever further away from the needs and wishes of the electorate.
