Interesting all should see it. Problems of a flat tax to pay for a war with the French. The economics didn’t work out with that and tax Commissioners had to fill the gap. The extra squeeze and the infamous, flagrant behaviour of these men aroused hate and retaliation. Then there were other problems around that time – it was just too much.
