Around 360,000 across the country unable to pay for the electricity they need

This is how private medical institutions operate – within strictly set budgets that cater for the requirements and goals of the entity. This is not how our public hospital system works. The leaked plan was presented to staff just days after the government installed Levy as commissioner and sacked a board it accused of dire financial mismanagement, losing $130 million a month.
“This overspend is a consequence of recruiting clinical staff ahead of budget and having operating models that are not affordable,” Apa said earlier.
The extra 2900 nurses recruited in the last year would cost, by a ballpark calculation, $30-35m a month.

Emergency doctors from Rotorua Hospital dispute management’s claim that “additional staff” are being recruited, saying advertised positions are just to replace those leaving.
Health New Zealand is consulting with staff on a controversial plan to get Rotorua doctors to also cover Taupō ED, which is struggling to fill vacancies for five doctors.
I think we are going backwards but have lost our compass.
