  1. Independent panel finds no evidence for UNRWA complicity in terrorism three months on

    https://news.un.org/en/story/2024/04/1148821

The panel tasked with investigating allegations that UN Relief Agency for Palestinian Refugees employees were involved in terrorist acts is still waiting for evidence to be supplied by Israel. It took one day for the largest donors to UNRWA to suspend funding without evidence but three months on and the collective punishment of thousands of UN employees remains, as does the suffering of the people that benefit from this crucial aid. It is probable that no evidence of terrorism by the UN will eventuate and that this was a propagandistic smear campaign by the Israeli regime. New Zealand’s foreign ministry must commit to funding UNRWA in the next tranche.
