This is a class thing really. Family may not want to hep their elderly relative, or be able to, and it is reasonable for a long-term carer doing good things for the person to claim the situation of partnership after many years. But wealthy people have an interest in gathering money and won’t worry about fairness and their own lack of input to the elderly’s wellbeing. It involves work believe me, and if done pleasantly makes all the difference to the person’s happiness.

So the law needs to consider that and not regard it just as a property – financial matter thing. The caregiver in our family’s matter was left $70,000 out of sufficient estate for all so I know the various aspects of this.
