Christchurch is looking down the barrel of an 18 percent rates increase if it does not make some major cost savings, the mayor says.
The Christchurch City Council is working on its Long Term Plan (LTP) for 2024 to 2034.
Mayor Phil Mauger said the plan has started out with a proposed 18 percent rates increase, which he says was unacceptable.
He told Checkpoint that the city was currently $2b in debt, which he tried to simplify to explain the severity of the situation…
Is Christchurch the place where the great battle happens that needs to take place to take our country back from the schemes of civil servants proliferating and finding expensive things for us to build and spend our rates on because…
Shitty little right wing politicians have done the dirty on the citizens starting in 1984 and you know what they say about snowballs getting bigger as they roll. However we are past the snowball stage and onto a higher plane – off into space actually haha. And while I am trying to be funny instead of feeling sad and mad – ‘The rain won’t fall mainly on the plain’ because of long droughts during La or Le Ninny climate change.
