In a recent essay in The Atlantic, Haidt wrote that it was not Americans who were getting stupid as individuals; rather USA’s institutions.
Haidt, who is professor of ethical leadership at NYU-Stern, argues that social media is allowing people to intimidate others and make them afraid of public consequences for anything they say. And that makes institutions structurally stupid, because people have stopped dissenting, questioning and challenging.
All seemed well until about 2014, he says.
Luxons’gang policy has big holes in it, firstly banning insignia won’t work cause they can wear red t shirts and have Mongrel mob tattoos etc and still congregate, who will monitor them affiliating and this may impact negatively on innocent bystanders like whanau members. Court orders have been proven to be useless as they would require again constant monitoring by police. Stopping them from using social media to recruit, well white power and far right are just as bad and is he going to stop the hatred and evil shit they put up, nah! he has already shown he is weak on this issue. And the warrants to raid without a signed court order we already have this power.
