Anyway I seem to have found the answer on Red Dwarf Series 1 episode 3 ME2squared.

Have just met Kryton. And Cat has just noted the difference between dogs and cats – it’s no use to throw sticks away and expect cats to bring them back – why would you have thrown them away? And Kryton has just decided not to blindly serve but to over-ride his programming and rebel. Rimmer says what are you rebelling against? He-it says ‘Whatcha got.’ Red Dwarf fans will understand.
Also have been watching Wellington Paranormal police series. It is very illustrative of the problems that our persons in blue have to cope with and is an aid to empathy.
You can’t go wrong with a bit of Red Dwarf for perspective. My favorite is when they find out they are only actors and not lost in space afterall, the show is up back on Earth and they go back to their boring mundane unspecial lives
