    If we really cared about people falling behind, shouldn’t wages automatically increase at the annual rate of inflation at the very least?

Government would be wiling to consider this; however that would require a thorough-going discussion and conference by Treasury, Reserve Bank, Inland Revenue Dept all the Bank Economists plus the free-floating ones, (and all the usual suspects), which could not release its findings until after the 2026 Election.

    The title is confusing. Just to reassure – the cyclone happened first, and the temporary village followed up, is standing and able to be used. Good news from bad – let us have more of this.
