The British People stood and stared down anti-Muslim fascism
There was a moment of beauty in this terrible anti-Muslim pogrom, and that was the counter protest by many, many, many good British people who stood and stared the right wing fascism down!
The collision of social media hate algorithms, loneliness, social isolation, white fragility, and white supremacy has spawned an ugly violence that Muslims have had to face.
It can only be beaten by a clear under taking from the wider civil society that we won’t allow far right fascists take over our common spaces and threaten other members of our community.
The frustration many British feel towards refugees when these refugees have had to cross Europe to get to them is understandable, how can you seriously claim to be fleeing persecution and still argue Greece isn’t safe enough?
The moribund response from Government has allowed these frictions to explode, but understanding the fictions doesn’t lead to any justification of what has happened here.
False lies were spread to enflame a tinder box of resentment.
Heavy sentences may turn people into martyrs.
This spastic eruption of violence of ignorance must face a tempered response, not anything that generates righteous grievance.
Tell these people they’ve had their fears and angers manipulated, explain why they got it so wrong, use the moment to reach out and teach because if the response become over egged then the risk is another round of sectarianism and rising militancy.
The United Kingdom needs de-escalation.

Islam needs to have a reformation and a separation of Sharia law from its teachings. Sharia is totally incompatible with western democratic values
There are many Islamic countries that do not practice sharia law . Just as in Christianity countries there are degrees of difference and in the past there was reformation and the inquisition.
Sharia law OTT bad – but on saying that have you looked for the mote in your own eye. Sound lofty, superior but are you? – casting blame like stoning (bad) doesn’t move us all up.

All the UK government has done is to clamp down the lid on the pressure cooker. The core issues haven’t gone away. These are:
Half a million immigrants every year, regardless of hue is unsustainable. These ‘anti fascist’ protesters will be bleating the next day about the queues for NHS services and the high cost of housing but unable to connect the dots. Someone somewhere has to shut the door to avoid a total system collapse.
The term phobia implies an irrational fear but in the case of Islam it’s not irrational. If you’ve followed the UK News over the last decade or so you’ll be aware of the numerous issues with Pakistani immigrants in particular. These include numerous child rape gangs, stabbings, bombings, female genital mutilation, cousin marriages, honour killings and sharia courts operating beneath the surface. Denying these issues won’t make them go away.
