As the coalition Government continues to struggle with the state of its books it once again turns its attention to bringing down costs
…don’t tell me we don’t have the money for public services!
We had $14 Billion for tax cuts.
$2.9billion for landlord loop holes.
$300 million for tobacco.
$200 million for gas and oil.
An extra billion for smaller ferries.
We have the money, this governments ideologically believes cutting back on state funding force the market to step in and do it cheaper.
National despise public services and will underfund them until electorate demand something be done and the National party solution is always privatisation.
All this Government has is selling mansions to foreign millionaires, selling state assets and underfunding public services.
They strangle the common good for their donors interests.
That’s not a vision, it’s economic vandalism as performance art for the rich.

So now you are an expert re back-up staff! Because of the severe insufficient staffing shortages my daughter’s open heart surgery has been cancelled 3x with the excuses “staffing or logistic issues”! A survey of Wellington council suggested they may be overstaffed by 330. out of a workforce of 1800. I am surecthe same would apply in government departments. Happy to have more productive workers hired in the public service just less senior managers protecting their patch.
