  1. And on top of all of this the current Labour government has passed National’s Social Security Act 2018 as if it’s their own. The new legislation retains all of the nasty things in the previous Act and contrary to claims that say otherwise is more complex. After everything Labour’s done since 1999, and hasn’t done, the conclusion must be that Labour does not care about beneficiaries.

  2. There are plenty of people receiving benefits that should and could be working.Personally I am happy to increase benefits for those that are in real need but the checks needs to be far more strict. As an immegrant
    I travelled half way round the world as there was little work in England but it seems here some will not travel across town for a job . Thinks will get worse if marajuana is legalized as the grug test will be a further hurdle.

    1. Your sweeping generalities add nothing to the discussion regarding Child Poverty and just make you look uninformed. Suggest you check out the CPAG website for some insight into the causes of poverty.

    2. There’s a really simple solution to that. The number of real “bludgers” is very very small. Most people would prefer to work. There are simply not enough jobs and this is by design to suppress wage inflation (NAIRU). A government Job Guarantee would eliminate all involuntary under/unemployment & revive regional towns. It also puts pressure on employers to up their game. The US is way ahead of NZ on this with the Green New Deal proposal. Here, not even a mention
