  1. You could have done amazing things with $700,000 Martyn

The rule of thumb for all areas of society should be to look out there to see who is already doing great stuff off their own bat and give them more money to do more of what they are already doing well, not to give lots of money to an idea on paper or to people who know how to talk the talk.

  2. well critiqued Martyn; – personaally I have never seen any of these programs before and thanks to you warning me I didn’t miss anything gradly.

Trouble is we dont get the programing we so badly need today in “current affairs” since you stoped the Waatea 5th Estate which was excelllent, so why dont you request new beginning for your ‘Fifth Estate’ be placed on this platform as a replacement for those crappy programs?

  3. We watched ten minutes off it at the beginning, shook our heads in dismay, and switched off. There was simoly no redeeming features that we could come up with. Bring back “Citizen A”!! I may not always agree with you Martyn, but at the least you treat your audience as adults, not ‘kidults’.

  4. It’s crap. The irony is that Mediaworks had John Campbell in their midst and they chucked him out for “reality” tv porn and then The Project. Now they offer us “Spinoff”??
That would be like me stealing your Mercedes and replaying it with a Soviet-era Trabant!! Like I wouldn’t notice the fucking difference??? Piss off Mediaworks, we owe you nothing.

  5. Ffs, who bothers to watch current affairs on a Friday evening? Most younger people are out and trying to have a good time, others may also be busy visiting friends, going to a restaurant, the movies or clubbing and so forth.

I am worried about TVNZ having shifted Q+A to Sunday evenings, that may also lead to fewer bothering to watch that program.

The Spinoff leaves to be desired anyway, and the presenters do not give me much of a positive impression. I did not even know they had a TV slot, so who cares.

No wonder more and more people are poorly informed, we get less and less current affairs and useful information. As a result few do understand the challenges of global warming and other serious developments, they carry on as usual, same as the BS supermarkets only use the plastic bag topic as a marketing plot, to appear they are doing something good, while they continue giving away one way plastic bags at Countdown, as if nothing has changed.

People talk about wanting to do things for the environment, yet carry on driving their SUVs and other cars, leading to fewer train usage and stagnant bus journeys. It is a total disconnect between brain and body, it seems.

This country is a disgrace, the way it is run, and the Spinoff debacle is just one example of what is wrong here.
