So it wasn’t a misfiring Palestinian missile that exploded the Gaza Hospital after all – why we are all on the brink

Palestinians blamed an Israeli strike for the explosion at al-Ahli Arab Hospital, while the IDF said it was caused by a misfiring rocket fired by the armed group Palestinian Islamic Jihad. America also put the blame on Palestinian militants, while Arab states blamed Israel.

For opponents of Israel, the loss of life was another example of Israel killing civilians and lying about it. For supporters of Israel is was more proof of how anti-semitic the global media are to blame Israel.

Turns out both are probably wrong.

The ‘evidence’ provided by the IDF of audio between Hamas operatives is probably fake and visual analysis shows that the Palestinian Missile didn’t malfunction, it was shot down by Israel’s Iron Dome and landed on the hospital…

….it wasn’t an Israeli air strike and it wasn’t an errant missile. It was a Palestinian missile shot out of the air by the Israeli’s that landed on a hospital.

Both sides are lying because both are at fault

It highlights how civilians slaughtered during this conflict will become nothing more than bargaining chips for media outrage to step up the next cycle of violence.

We are at a terrifying precipice and the IDF haven’t even entered Gaza yet!

Mike Allen at Axios highlights just how dangerous this perfect storm of escalation has become…

1. Israel’s response to the Hamas terrorist attack, and growing fear of a spreading war that reaches to Iran and beyond. Officials point to the protests, threats and deadly, anti-American warnings of Arab nations after they thought — incorrectly — Israel struck a hospital in Gaza, killing hundreds. This is a preview of what they fully expect will be a worldwide response to the expected Israeli invasion of Gaza.

2. Vladimir Putin meeting in China this week with Xi Jinping to further strengthen their anti-America alliance. In a new Foreign Affairs article that top officials are sharing, Gates argues that both leaders believe America and other big democracies “are past their prime and have entered an irreversible decline.” Putin and Xi sniff weakness and are activating on many fronts, top administration officials tell us.

    • This Reuters headline says it all: “Russia says it is coordinating Middle East policy with China.”

3. A malicious Iran. It’s unclear how involved Iran was in orchestrating or assisting the Hamas terrorist attack — but officials seem certain there are ties. More worrisome: U.S. officials fear Hezbollah — a much bigger terrorist group than Hamas, funded by Iran — will strike the moment Israel gets stuck in Gaza.

    • Biden said last night in his Oval Office address: “Iran is supporting Russia in Ukraine, and it’s supporting Hamas and other terrorist groups in the region.”

4. Then there’s the unhinged leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, and his frequent testing of long-range, nuclear-capable missiles. As Gates points out, Russia, China, Iran and North Korea combined will have twice as many nuclear weapons as America in two years.

5. A new weapon is being deployed in all these conflicts: a massive spread of doctored or wholly fake videos to manipulate what people see and think in real time. The architects of these new technologies, in background conversations with us after demonstrating new capabilities soon to be released, say even the sharpest eyes looking for fake videos will have an impossible time detecting what’s real. (We’ll have a column coming soon to Go Deeper on this topic).

    • Fake video, on top of bots (fake people) and fake written content, is being used aggressively by all anti-American actors, intelligence officials say. Some experts estimate that more than 90% of content on the internet will soon be fake or manipulated.

…look at how something we had open source information of to determine the Hospital explosion, imagine faked images used to trigger responses that can’t be countered?

There are so many dangerous elements in play here that an immediate cease fire is the only logical conclusion if we don’t want to risk going over a point of no return.

We are all on the brink.

  1. The leaflets dropped by Israel on Gaza at the start of Israel’s bombing campaign warned the people of Gaza that “known shelters must be evacuated”. 

    In practice in line with this order – “known shelters”, schools, hospitals, churches, that have not been evacuated, are now regularly and frequently being struck with Israeli bombs and missiles.

    In the same leaflet drop 1.1 million Palestinians were ordered to evacuate Gaza city and its surrounds, and go to Southern Gaza. 1.1 million people were given 24 hours to obey this order.

    Drs and administrators of Gaza city central hospitals were sent the same impossible demand by telegram and facebook personally addressed to them that they must obey the order to evacuate their hospitals.

    All supplies of food, water, electricity and medicine and sewerage services are cut off. Gaza City is a city of death.

    A genocide is being conducted right before our eyes and the eyes of the world and our incumbent, and government elect, haven’t condemned it. Not a single lawmaker on both sides of the house have lifted a finger to apply every legal channel open to them to try and stop this genocide.

    In international law, no atrocity, not even another genocide, justifies committing genocide.

    We once said “Never Again”.

    We even say; “We are committed to an International rules base order.”

    So why are our law makers from both sides of the house not immediately petitioning the United Nations International Court of Justice to order the state of Israel to abide by the 1948 international convention on the prevention and punishment of the crime of genocide?
    We have the means. Our nation’s top international lawyers are in the Hague right now after recently giving testimony on this country’s behalf to the ICJ on the alleged genocide committed by Ukraine.

    1. “Never again” also means a collective responsibility to hold Israel to account for crimes against humanity because after all allowing atrocity’s to go unchallenged only leads to further antisemitism and attacks against Jews.

      Gaby and his/her ilk will engage in “Whataboutism” as a form of gaslighting.
      What about Iran, Yemen or Iraq, why always the Jews? which they then equate to antisemitism never mentioning Palestinians are semetic.
      A land for a people, for people without a land is pure hasbara. Please explain how there were 1.2 million Palestinians before the partition and Jewish people were the minority. Additionally explain how a so called “empty land” led to the destruction of over 531 Palestinian towns and villages, 70 massacres and the murder of 15,000 Palestinians during the Nakba. You can’t.

    To reclaim the internet, so that real people can talk to each, it’s well past time that all reputable websites banned all anonymous commenters, especially trolls who can’t be confirmed as real people.
    This cowardly horde, not prepared to put their names and reputations behind the content they put on line, need to be told, to fuck right off, back to the dark corners of the conspiratorial web, where they belong.

    1. Banning all anonymous commenters will create a point of difference between serious reputable websites and all the spurious conspiratorial websites.

      P.S. Another point of difference I notice; The spurious conspiracy websites, are very quick to block and ban serious named commenters who challenge their conspiracy narratives.

      1. I’m probably one of the few prepared or brave enough to openly agree with you on that. I seldom give weight on any opinion in an anonymous comment or essay. If someone isn’t able to stand behind and own their opinions then the opinion is largely worthless. I generally treat them as material to either ridicule or deconstruct.

Imagine if world history accepted that the WW2 Jews fighting out of the ghettos were terrorists, that the German Nazi armies had a right to defend themselves against unarmed Jewish people, that every Jewish person was a combatant because some of the population fought back and that extermination of all Jews was now justified because they were human shields or collateral of war, and the kids, elderly, infirm and people not of a particular race or religion were just animals to be put down. Imagine if this was the rewritten history.

  4. Israel is dropping a thousand bombs a day so there must be thousands of these horrific stories waiting to be told. These are the chosen people, chosen to murder kids sleeping in a shelter. You big fucking men.

  5. Two thousand years ago a wise man gave a sermon somewhere in Palestine. He advised turning the other cheek, and to love one’s enemies, in contrast to taking an eye for an eye. He declared blessed the meek and peace makers.

    When we hear frenzied calls for vengeance, blood, bombs it might be hove us to reflect upon the words of a man who Western values are largely derived from.

    1. Who knows Ted? Maybe you don’t exist either, or won’t in the record two millennium hence. But someone authored or recorded that wisdom and it stuck more than what you or I say.

I have the complete and unabridged works of one of them, Josephus, often thought to be Roman, but from an educated Jewish family tho’ all his major writing was done in Rome. The interesting chronology of the gospels and New Testament writings, attest to something major occurring in an occupied territory which was crawling with messiahs back then.

Doppler sound waves made by the approaching missile, similar to those made by an approaching or receding train whistle, and captured by the microphone attached to a security camera geo located 150m East of the Church, revealed that the missile that hit the Gaza Baptist church came from the direction East of the church. ie. from the direction of Israel.
    The scatter pattern around the impact crater also indicated that the missile strike came from the North East direction and not from the South West as Israel claimed. Whether this was the flight of an Islamic Jihad missile that had been turned back toward Gaza after being struck by an Israeli Iron Dome anti-missile, missile, rather than being destroyed in flight, seems unlikely. More likely it was a stray Iron Dome missile launched from Israel that had missed its aerial target. This scenario fits with the relatively small size of the impact crater.

    Examination of the alleged recording of Islamic Jihad and Hamas voices admitting to an errant Palestinian missile, revealed that this recording had been doctored and spliced together. Making it inadmissible as evidence of anything.

  7. Unfortunatley neither the IDF or Hamas subscribe the New Testament. Same with all The Commanders in Chief and Putin.

  8. And yet DD in Canada has conducted a complete analysis and says it wasnt Israel. Also bomb didnt hit the hospital, just the carpark so hard to understand where the 500 dead came from.

  9. I get the feeling that this episode of the Arab Israeli conflict is going to end with a resolution of one kind or another. Either it will bring about a massive near global conflict where US blames Iran and launches air strikes against it and the US navy is sunk by Iranian missiles starting a general WW# scenario . Or the powers that be finally recognise that unless they back down and start meaningful discussions that this will happen and act to avoid it. Which will necessarily require resolving the Palestinian issue once and for all.
    I don’t see how this can happen without recognising that Israel is an artificial state created out of sympathy for the treatment of the jews by Germany during WW2 and the jewish population is largely well healed immigrants / colonists from Europe and America.
    They will need to withdraw at least to the boundaries of Israel prior to ’67 or they will not finish up with any state at all.

  10. The clearest statement yet from the IDF that they are committing genocide in Gaza.
    While driving in my car listening to BBC News on the radio. The BBC reported that a new IDF leaflet drop on North Gaza reads: anyone still remaining in North Gaza is “an accomplice of a terrorist organisation”

    This can only mean one thing;

    Nurses, Drs, patients, babies in incubators, children – all those still remaining in North Gaza are now a declared target of IDF death squads and missile strikes.

    I could barely believe what I was hearing.

    When I got home, for confirmation, I googled what I had heard on my car radio.

    Why are our lawmakers silent?

    A genocide is being committed and our collective silence makes us all complicit.

    1. Pat we live in a very sick world. It’s all about the dollars, and wars make plenty of dollars. Humans whether young or old don’t matter. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE DOLLARS. When I look at my mokopuna I think how unsafe they are. We’ve created a very sick world. WHAT THE HELL CAN WE DO TO CHANGE IT.

  11. Oddly enough, whenever Putin blames Ukrainians for blowing up civilian buildings, or spreads disinformation about their plans to do so, I do not believe him. So it is with Israeli stories about Palestinian facilities.

    As it was with the British burning of Benin, the superior military force cannot avoid all responsibility.
