  1. this COL has it head in the sand over so many issues measles is just one .A report said we were in danger of having too many tourists but Kelvin Davies said all was fine and nothing was done. The welfare report was totally ignored kiwibuild was allowed to go on with bland statements of she will be right eventually and now it seem Labour is ignoring the fact that despite Jacinda’ smiling more hugging more and rolling out the baby Neve they are not looking like winners.

Be careful that you don’t scrape away at COL until it is too weak to stand. The alternative would be far worse, so be careful what you wish for, whatever you won’t get it from either side of politics. There are still sides, with differing shades of colour. One leading to dark grey, one that offers a door through the rainbow to a fresh green that offers a balm to the stressed. You don’t sound like a winner yourself; I’m not and am trying to conserve what we have with a view to improvement and try and temper myself from unbounded negativism. Don’t diss the COL too much or you are a destructor to my eyes.

Yes!! The Ministry of Tourism needs to be aware of the problems caused by over-tourism, and problems caused by tourists generally, and problems for tourists. The Minister need to be ready to get stuck in and do on-the-ground spade work, – literally: eg toilets are needed just about everywhere! Roads and off-road tracks need far greater support when the thousands of tourists are marching in. Waterways need far greater protection from tourists crap runoff. Road/ driving rules need to be safer, etc etc.

I think Kelvin et al just turn away and say it’s an environmental problem then, and belongs to the Dept of Environment. But it’s their swarms of tourists that caused those problems! The Tourism Ministry just passes the buck, fast as. This is Not On!!

Next time around, we need a different Tourism Minister. …Someone who addresses the problems, at least as much as he cares about their present $$$$$$$$ bottom line. Someone who is not just out to sell NZ, not there to pimp her out. Someone who gives a damn.

  2. Yes I agree the NZ Ministry of Health was to slow getting involved in this messles epidemic debarkle as they were over the Coronavirus.

  3. it’s a wander the country’s still functional .. or is it ..
with the outbreak of coronavirus , NZ could be just days away from economic meltdown and a state of emergency. stay calm stock up on water and supplies and indeed get ready for “fortress Aotearoa” u heard it here first on – TDB.

  4. Our claim to fame for being an advanced, developed country is definitely spotty. One step forward, and we have an earthquake and can’t find our original position! We can’t handle fine, intricate music of the highest quality, rather the trumpeting of blowhards. But is this analysis and denigration important, the question will be asked? The nub of the matter is; how will it affect the economy, will it result in money for us at the front of the queue, at the end of the day? Our standard bearer is Alex from The Telegraph:
