  1. If you have any hope that the so called ‘millennials’ will make the overdue decision and stand up for real change to save our planet from climate catastrophe, I fear you live in fantasy land:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennials

The information and tech ‘revolution’ has not changed much about caged chickens still being kept in tiny cages for laying eggs and for being fattened up quickly for sale to the greedy humans consuming them.

The same supposed ‘revolution’ has not got rid of sow crates in which pigs are locked away, so to not move too much, so they grow big and fat quickly, on questionable fodder fed to them.

That same ‘revolution’ has not got rid of slave labour by poor people and even children in many countries where formal employment is an alien word for many, and where a dollar a day is a ‘wage’ they may have to settle for, no matter what.

The IT, tech and information age ‘revolution’ that the millenials are so much ‘part’ of, has not got rid of plastic ending up in the oceans in ever so massive proportions, and it has not stopped manufacturers and packaging companies from using all kinds of plastics to mold into and package into the many thousands of goods items we find in our supermarkets, and in such shops all over the globe.

It has not got rid of fossil fuel exploitation, of the car industry carrying on selling most cars as fossil fuel powered cars, of coal, gas and petroleum being burned to fire powerplants to keep all those home appliances and gadgets running for our dear millenials and the rest of totally energy and supply chain goods dependent humans.

We continue to have pollution, massive wastage, overpopulation, mono-culture type agriculture, people driving nice SUVs and other cars by the billions every day on this choking and suffocating planet, we continue to do almost nothing of substance and real effect to save the environment, the hundreds of species under threat, because humans have got used to buy all these mass produced consumer goods, and do not want to given them up at all.

In reality we are totally SCREWED, and a real revolution is not going to happen, as millenials are in their vast majority, like their parents NOT revolutionaries, they rather rely on the system that keeps them fed and entertained, and go about their lives dreaming in cyberspace and so, hoping to hit it big one day, like their IT and other heroes, who have become billionaires and sail around in super yachts and drive around in flash big cars.

That is the fricking truth, so get real, what is needed is enviro guerilla war, sabotaging the polluters, so they get taken out, so that systems collapse, then we can perhaps at some stage see real action on the streets and places in our over populated, screwed up and unsustainable urban mega centres, which Auckland wants to join under mega nutty Goff and others, growing it to two and a half million in thirty or less years.

    1. Well said, Marc.

The only consolation is that system is slowly sabotaging itself by overconsuming the resources it needs to persist and by ruining the environment that it needs to persist.

  2. For a few months of every year photosynthetic uptake exceeds emissions.

We have now entered the next climb phase which will take atmospheric CO2 to a new record level in May 2019, somewhere in the range 412 to 415 ppm.

Needless to say, the trapping of heat by greenhouse gases, already at a record high in terms of human existence, will reach a new record high in the northern summer of next year.
