Chris Cornell dead: Soundgarden and Audioslave singer dies aged 52
In a statement issued to The Associated Press, Brian Bumbery said Cornell died Wednesday night in Detroit.
The death was called “sudden and unexpected” in the statement. A cause of death is currently unknown. Cornell’s family have asked for privacy while they work with a medical examiner to determine the cause.
Cornell was best known for fronting the two iconic bands and singing ‘You Know My Name’, the theme song for James Bond film Casino Royale. He was scheduled to play the US festival Rock the Range in Columbus tonight and last appeared on stage 4 May.
A great loss of new contemporary modern music.

Absolutely gutting. This man defined my young adulthood, along with Alice In Chains, Nirvana and Pearl Jam. A massive yet humble talent, nobody sounded like Chris Cornell. His voice encapsulated all the rage, hurt, sorrow and angst you feel when you’re a young, testosterone-addled fool trying to find his feet in the world. What a fucking waste.
I will miss you, Chris Cornell. Wherever you are, I hope you find the peace that eluded you in life. My condolences to your family and band-mates.
