Quick – Auckland Transport, build another pink cycle way
Auckland Transport is one of the most corrupt bodies in Auckland, and manages to get away with any real public transport obligations by throwing the trainspotters over at Greater Auckland the odd pink cycleway and hipster pet project while doing sweet fuck all for the long suffering working class public transport users.
The latest atrocity is the reminder that Auckland Transport ‘security’ actually do nothing to protect the public. Here’s a charming story about a sexual assault and the ‘protection’ offered by Auckland Transport…
Two Auckland teenagers were violently and sexually assaulted while taking a train home on the weekend.
The mother of one of the victims has voiced her concerns on social media to try to track down the attackers.
Jen de Montalk said her 15-year-old daughter and male friend were travelling home on the train on Saturday about 5.30pm, when they were confronted by five drunk men wearing Four Square costumes and masks.
“The kids were on the train near them and one of the men started walking around and telling my daughter to put her hand in his pouch, because he was wearing an apron.
“He then got his dick out and exposed himself to her,” she said.
“Then one of the other guys suddenly took a disliking to the boy she was with. He called him a faggot, rolled up his sleeves and started choking him.”
De Montalk said her daughter began yelling for help while her friend fought off the attacker, but nobody came to the teenagers’ aid.
“People were filming it but nobody stepped up to help, and the Auckland Transport staff didn’t intervene.”
She said the man headbutted the teenage boy, and a stray punch clipped her daughter in the side of the face.
…how on earth are you allowed to run public transport and not be responsible for the safety of the travelling public?
Auckland Transport take, take and take again and give us very little in return. They quickly need to throw the Greater Auckland hipsters a new pink cycle way somewhere to distract attention from their latest cost cutting measure to maximise profit at the cost of public transport safety.
Come on, you cannot bag the police in some posts, and then run this story, about AT not looking after passengers. How are the usually under-skilled ticket sellers and other staff on the trains to deal with a gang of people harassing a young couple, or for that sake, in some cases disabled or elderly?
Migrant labour gets exploited, as I observe so many working on the trains are Indians or other new immigrants, poorly equipped to do their jobs.
And it is most appalling that other passengers just turn away, but that is what happens all over the globe, dear friends, go to North America, Europe and Asia, it happens everywhere, it is also not new that females got raped on buses and trains in India.
You want immigration, this to be a 2.5 million global city, and then you will get the negative side also, I regret, crime and antisocial behaviour, it is rampant now.
Perhaps dear Jafas cannot have it both ways, the most liveable city BS and security and better living quality at the same time?

The new labour lead government need to re-nationalise the rail service and send the private french company that runs Auckland passenger rail packing!!!!
A new Kiwi Rail management must also be placed to advance a new safe operating passenger & freight service as the current administration is a lapdog for the current rail hating Nactional Government.
