  1. The housing crisis, combined with excess migration tied to base greed, will spell the end on NZ society (and then the economy), if not remedied yesterday. If more individuals were decidedly less comfortable and/or less neo-colonial in their outlook, they would see it.

Ask most bosses if there is an excess of migrates and he/she will laugh .Sealord will lose $10 million this year due to unprocessed fish due to lack of staff.This applies to most sectors of the economy. We have an excess of people not willing or unable to work .If we want teachers, health workers ,police etc then profits need to be made and wages need to be taxed .
      Many of the blog writers on this feed seem to hate businesses making money . They need to get into the real world .

      1. It’s the passing on of the businesses profits to employees which is the issue Trevor. All in favour of business having good profits as long as its not at the expense of a low wage economy. That’s where businesses need to “get into the real world”.

        1. Agree Bert but there are many areas where the wages are set by this government eg care workers which are not adequate and where a high bench mark could be set . This is a situation brought about by both Labour and National governments but covid certainly highlighted where rider paid essential workers were undevalued like cleaners in the hospitals

          1. The average salary for a care worker is $23.00 per hour in New Zealand. Is that good or bad bearing in mind that many care workers will work for private rest homes?
            I agree with your sentiments and this is exactly why Labour have gone about trying to correct the low wage economy. People may not like the left but at least they are attempting to fix previous governments unwillingness to alter our low wage economy. Here is a prime example Trevor…
