  1. You’d think for someone like Dunne who holds liberal democracy as his ideology, that he’d be for decriminalization.

What a sad excuse for a politician. I guess free lunches from tobacco companies are more important

    1. the only ideology Dunne has is Dunne-ism.
I take a step further back (as a starting point). There’s been a nasty incremental creep over the years (through the use of regulations, and by other means) that Ministers to make decisions that are better placed in the hands of the Public Service or the Judiciary.
Ministers are making decisions on matters such as immigration, or concerning industry (i.e. MPI).
They excuse themselves by not being allowed to comment on ‘operational issues’ when it suits them.
The use of medicinal cannabis should never have been put in the hands of Munsters such as Dunne in the first place.

  2. Kia ora,

The govt is trying to make themselves look progressive / compassionate, when in fact, it appears that the govt’s stance has not been legal in the first place, as highlighted by RNZ in the below.

    http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/national/323067/govt-stance-on-medical-cannabis-'unlawful

They have not shown any interest at all in easing access previously; presumably with TOP and the Greens indicating they will bring in cannabis reform, the govt is trying to make it appear as though there is no need.

  3. Wouldn’t it be fabulous if Gareth Morgan came out and supported the legalization of cannabis.

  4. Hi Martyn,

And so the NZ Herald’s attacks on Andrew Little continue and appear to be getting more personal (jealous, angry)…since the announcement of the election date.

Here is a collection from the NZ Herald today….

    Claire Trevett:-

“The jealous Little took on the role of Paris,…”

    Barry Soper:-

It was as though the more he yelled, the more ferocious the gravel voice sounded and the more the arms were flayed around the more intimidated his prey would become and he’d finally use the word that his attacker so wanted him to whimper – crisis.

Angry Andrew Little and his band of weary warriors have clearly decided the new year would force the admission from the suits and garish colours flashing at them from the opposite side of the bear pit.

Perhaps Martyn you should start a daily and cumulative piece leading into the election highlighting the daily personal attacks run by the Herald on Andrew Little.

  5. This is a victory for Dunne because people will think he’s done something significant.

In talking about when changes would actually be implemented he raved on radio about every single day something wasn’t done was one day too many for those suffering.

Speedy Pete coming out with crap like that thinking we would think he was the saving Angel instead of that other word starting with a, Arsehole.
