  1. Sorry Curwen, your prose would be more intelligible and your argument more coherent without all the asterisks and speech marks.

    1. Things that make it difficult to murder one hundred million people.

      Mainstream Media

      The military

      America

      The UN

While not always helpful. Having an America with the ability to put a quarter million soldiers any where on the planet for three weeks and tople a government does have some fringe benefits.

  2. You’ve actually missed the point of Kirk’s tweet. It’s not socialism vs. varying degrees of capitalism. It’s nationalism vs. globalism. Why it relates to the political left (ie socialism) is because at our current political inflection point, it is the left that supports globalism before nationalism. Trump’s America first decisions, like when he pulled the USA out of the Paris Accord because it would have placed taxes and burdensome regulations on American businesses, is the exact opposite of Macron’s decision to risk harming his own economy for the sake of a global agenda to limit carbon emissions. Not suggesting one is better than the other, simply demonstrating the divergence of political philosophy. It’s all connected.

    1. One must wonder, how we are all meant to get on better with each other, and how the world should function any better, by having people embrace nationalism, i.e. America First, France First, UK First, Germany First, Russia First, China First, Japan First, India First, Korea First, Indonesia First?

If that is supposed to work better, i. e. being more selfish and self focused, then I wonder how bad collective efforts are meant to be?

Surely Trump’s idea of running the US and the globe cannot be the solution, sooner or later we will have a very, very major war, wiping us all out.

  3. Good analysis, Curwen. Might do to get someone to edit your writing, your style is… unique. But the content and meaning is well wotth the time to read it.

Ss for Macron being “socialist”!! Not unless the meaning of the word has seriously changed in the last few days, Macron is as socialist as my kid’s bunny rabbit.

  4. I [don’t] “agree” – Curwen. The *biggest* {mistake} “we” can [make] in the POST Post post TRUTH era (we) are *living* in is – to try and #categorise anything the @SocialMedia “commentators” have to “say” into OLD structures. They (don’t) even *know* what they are #hating any – more. SOCIALISM is ^now^ (part) of one %big% Truthy POT of Stew, and all they “know” is they {don’t} *like* it. Kirk is NOISE, he doesn’t represent anything. You can /safely ^disregard^ what “he” says – (just) watch what “he” DOES.
