  1. Pros and cons.

Pro: Willie Jackson can hold his own against the Tories and has a wealth of experience in political contests. In a Vaguely-Red/Green government he’ll take the battle to the Nats when they start bitching about shifting this country back to some semblance of egalitarianism.

Con: Wake-jumping is frowned on more and more by the voting-public. It suggests that the wake-jumper has no real philosophy or ideology, and is desperately to jump onboard any waka that’ll get him or her back into parliament. John Banks is another classic example that springs to mind.

How do I see it? Well, personally I’ve had a gutsful of Labour’s infighting and National-wannabee-tough-on-crime crap, so my party vote will probably go to the Greens.

  2. What about Willie Jackson’s involvement in charter schools?
One person’s pro-maori development and education philosophy is another person’s privatised education system. Does Willie want to champion any other ACT policies?

    1. It’s a cry for help you fish, Willie see’s maori kids and wants them taught come hell or high water nerd

      1. Willie Jackson has a considerable conflict of interest in regards to charter schools. I am not sure of Labour’s policy about chartered schools, but I believe that they should be dismantled. They were just a way to divide and conquer, and privatise state education.

        1. If you had of said the act party, that would strengthen your argument but you tried to tar and feather Labout which weakens your argument or is that your final analysis?

      2. As someone deeply opposed to charter schools I cannot see how Jackson even begins to think having a charter school for some Maori is going to make a blind bit of difference. It won’t it is ideologically unsound and every dam one of them should be closed. Think about the amount of dosh that has been spent on charter schools it is obscene. Fund schools properly across the board and fund parents properly especially those on the minimun wage, unemployed, solo parents, make class numbers smaller, resource them properly. These are the things that will really make a difference not privatisation by stealth.

  3. Since when does a NZ 1st member get to claim ANY crediblity as coming from the left? FFS -your leader will never say which party he will support post-election. Winston is NOT left and so , by association, there is no way you Curwen, can claim to speak for the left.

And WHY, WHY do some men just not get the problem with the Roast busters case? (From reading on this blog, I know Bomber does.) It fucking matters Curwen! Maybe some guys don’t really care that much when girls get raped? And then you call people who give a shit -“overwrought moral purists” – that really stinks.

  4. Labour has shot itself in the foot by nominating Willie Jackson as an MP. At best he is unable to think on his feet and will contribute little to parliament. At worst he really doesn’t get it and thinks that victims of rape really do ask for it, in which case he’ll do serious harm as an MP.

I’ll not vote for Labour while he is on Labour’s ticket.
