Seymour denies ACT contributed to climate change denial

Speaking on Q+A, Seymour said the party’s scepticism on climate science was before his time as party leader, and that ACT had credibility on the climate crisis today.

In a policy document, last accessible in 2016, ACT suggested: “New Zealand is not warming. There is no warming trend since 1970, and the slight warming trend since 1950 is not statistically significant.

In addition, Seymour distanced himself from a statement from former leader Rodney Hide, saying that the claim was made 15 years ago when he lived in a different country.

In 2008, Hide argued in Parliament that “the entire climate change and global warming hypothesis is a hoax.”

The funniest thing from the weekend was watching David Seymour trying to pretend that ACT aren’t a banjo twanging climate denial party and that their previous climate denial helped stop real change.

Previous leader Rodney Hide is on record calling climate change a hoax and until 2016 ACT had climate denier propaganda on their own website.

Jack busted David on Q+A and reminded him of all the denial, ACT of course have changed their tune because they can’t keep tricking punters into believing the science isn’t settled and its safer politically to pretend adaptation over mitigation.

But to pretend ACT aren’t a climate denying party and haven’t been instrumental in tricking NZ into being as unprepared as they are now for climate change is a lie too far!

OF COURSE ACT are a climate denial party, they have always been a climate denial party, they know they can’t sing that song any longer, not because there isn’t a clear climate denial electorate in NZ, but that electorate are mostly redneck farmers who think ‘Cindy’ is a community.

That redneck climate denial electorate is the kiss of death to ACTs new urban vote.

ACT are a Party of climate denial, they only like free speech when Polynesian Poets aren’t included and their Treaty policies will start a race war in NZ.

Watching ACT deny they are climate deniers has been the best start to the week.
