  1. All obvious to those with a class left world view–but it is significant when members and associates of the ruling class draw the same conclusions.

The 40th anniversary of Rogernomics/Ruthanasia is next year–didn’t quite work out did it Rog? We are left with an embedded neo liberal state, and embedded inequality and social disunity.

Plus thanks to the digital world, Natzo ECA union busting in 1991, and ever more alienated people with brains like busted mirrors–WE–have a huge task to turn it all around.

  2. This is a long post on things we already know with a reasoned view from an informed academic. Are there dispassionate judgments made about our present dystopia? Are there suggestions as to how to break the rope in this tug of war to end the conflict, as we are in a civil war, against the people, taking us right back towards industrial evolution days. That was evolution then; it’s now that we have the revolution caused by trusted government throwing aside our political system of the welfare state which was making us perhaps too complacent. But abandoning the system that we had with good faith voted in was treason except that lawyers would argue their way out of this construct.

Privatising the public structures and systems is like throwing a child into the pool to teach it to swim; and then withdrawing the water. The skill obtained was of no use, the medium had gone. Our only use now is to prepare the way for technology to take over all our human functions, because it is more efficient.

We find it hard to comprehend the extent of the betrayal and how we have absorbed change and ignored what side effects it has but in the words of an old ballad:
When an irresistible force such as you
Meets an old immovable object like me
You can bet just as sure as you live
    Something’s got to give

I think about the cool ability of Aldous Huxley to discuss our likely future leading to our self-destruction. Our future seems to be to consume and interact with the financial world and tech, IT, AI. We can’t trust anyone to have good and worthwhile policy and action at the political level and even in everyday dealings with business; even our own natural selves.
As one songwriter puts it ‘We read books and magazines on how to be while we are being’, protean to the core. Now we look to television and IT of course.

  3. Pearls before swine perhaps warbler…

Modern life as our overlords see it depends upon the masses denial, non reflection, and not investigating things too deeply.

Post Modernism is essentially a philosophy where anything can mean anything. As the Salon link covers, there used to be agreed meanings for social and cultural phenomena regardless of people holding different positions.
