  1. I am surprised Winston can decide to get out of bed without holding a binding referendum

  2. Or Jacinda could dust off her two ticks for Labour Campiagn and top roll the lot of them if they make Jacinda to hoha.

  3. Winston sees political annihilation coming, yet more evidence: today NZ first was polling people for opinions on gun law changes, in particular firearms license holders, you know the ones they just threw under a bus.
    It’s the equivalent of Genghis Kahn sending the Chinese a customer satisfaction survey after setting the place on fire.
    No one is falling for his bullshit, he’s gone.

  4. I hear what you are saying but why was the sleeping dog of abortion awoken when there are far more pressing justice issues burning such as;

    1, What about the fact the Justice system (and I would argue not just the courts) is seen by victims as an overwhelming failure? I mean this is huge Andrew!!!!
    2, Police pursuits where the near-daily carnage is as plain to see as the blood left at the scenes of every crash but absolutely nothing but nothing is happening in this government or the previous to deal with it. They are simply dumbstruck, maybe even unaware!
    3, A youth justice system that just doesn’t seem to work and this feeds back into Point 1.
    4, What about funding true alternatives to lesser Class A drug offence convictions and prison, like properly funded drug rehab with all the support services alongside it. For starters, the law could remain as is, the way the offending is dealt with by the current system, quite the other. Pragmatism for Africa, more than one way to skin a cat, etc.etc.

    I really worry about Labour. They are like blind idealists groping around a minefield, with almost no political instinct. No idea what battles to die in a ditch over and which to walk away from. Of all the things Andrew Little had to sink his teeth into it was this no winners can of worms subject of abortion where extreme emotions cloud all sides that never the twain shall meet.

    If there is one thing Winston has in spades, its political instinct. There are far better things to hit the headlines for and he must shake his head too. It does not surprise me one bit that this party is not comfortable with this subject, that is the nature of that beast. That Andrew Little was so vacant to not realise that is equally unsurprising but yet again he manages to shoot himself and this government in the foot for not understanding his rather conservative coalition partner. And of course, making the front page because of it!

  5. Of course they (NZF) want a binding referendums that is because they don’t have much of a mandate with only 8 or 9 seats what percentage of the total votes was that? and the election is coming up they need the party vote which is why they are Maori bashing at the moment to appeal to their voter base that is centrist and conservative also another reason why they are being careful with the abortion laws its all about being re-elected.

  6. This is really bad. Every move this government makes Winston at his whim blindsides it, that too before Public. We are sure of a Labour-Green government in 2020 even with National friendly ON-CB poll. So Jacinda should simply bring Winston in line or she should rule out Winston in 2020 even if it means an early election. That way she can call Winston’s bluff.
