So the oil industry are grumpy today because the Government are avoiding Armageddon tomorrow?

Catastrophic Climate change caused by human pollution, of which oil use is a major driver, MUST end today.

Immediate action on climate could save New Zealand tens of billions of dollars, according to a Westpac report.Based on research conducted by EY and Vivid Economics, the report shows the New Zealand economy could benefit by $30 billion by 2050 if government and business take early action on climate change.
The Oil Industry has known for decades that their product caused catastrophic climate change and they actively used propaganda to pretend climate change wasn’t to blame the way the tobacco industry used quack science to pretend smoking and cancer weren’t connected. Petrol needs to be hit with taxes the same way we hit tobacco and these taxes should be used to transition completely away from big oil.
Listening to NZ pundits nitpick that Labour messed up the delivery of message or the whining from Taranaki or the total falsehood that the industry employs 11 000 people all miss the point.
WE. NEED. CHANGE. NOW!
By promising to reinvest in oil, the National Party of NZ are pledging to do to the environment what they did to Middlemoore Hospital and seeing as Simon Bridges seems confused as to whether he’s working in NZs interests or the oil industry’s interests, we require an Opposition who can be constructive rather than cowardly.
If climate change is a cancer, National’s solution is to negotiate with that cancer.
You can’t negotiate with cancer, you can only cut it out.

Expect the backlash to grow as big oil seek to punish NZ for damaging their futures market, but for the sake of all our futures, we simply can’t allow them to win

National also hid another ‘EY’ study that validated the regional use of rail would save us bilions and the planet to but the study was produced for National at their request in 2016 but National did not release the study from EY and Labour found it buried in the Kiwrail and NZTA files two months ago so Government must ask National and Simon Bridges again why he buried this important climate changing study proving (quote) “The value of rail in NZ by EY for NZTA/Kiwirail.”

I totally totally agree and its excellent to see in print your affirmative support of the government implelimenting these policies, because like you said they keep getting accused every where else for being bungling newbys. It takes a lot of bslls to go this snd they will be attackef with a vengeance.. As for Shane Jones looking like he was trying to look like he swallowed a rat or two…what a performer, and a yes, let’s just keep an eye on that guy…
Burning Diesel / Burning Petroleum
Leaving global climate aside for a moment and focusing on our own health, we have to inform ourselves of the massive toxicity of Diesel and Petroleum. Urbanites are constantly bathed in the Toxicity day and night.
The Particulates produced by burning oil, such as Diesel and Petroleum, even the very smallest ones, seep into living things.
Young children are mostly affected by the Poison, as are older people. But the people in between don’t easily escape either. Early strokes are just one of the outcomes of Particulates.
I feel quite sure that within a short space of time, the cruel toxicity of burning oils and petroleum will be hit by massive claims for massive compensation.
Those such as the uneducated Simon Bridges who are promoting the dirty Oils, will be in the frame. So will all producers of oil, as will retailers, as will explorers.
Just Google “Diesel and Petroleum” and count the costs.
