  1. So the value of consents almost doubled from what amounts to be a margninal increase in the number of consents. Its not as if some one worked hard for this increase in value. Blinglish is a real tin arse

  2. Wonderful photo of poor old Nick in the Nelson paper recently. Some quick witted road worker onviously handed him a sign to hold up to go with his hi viz vest and safety hat during a photo op with list MP Maureen Pugh. The sign the old dope held up for the camera was so apt. It said “Slow”. Indeed Nick, indeed.

  3. I have been wondering, boom, well, what boom? I live in Auckland, now and then get around a bit, and while I do see some construction going on here and there, mostly new infills and some apartment and townhouse complexes, it does not seem to be all that much in numbers of dwellings being built.

So here we have it, inflated land and property values also inflate the new construction taking place on these.

With Auckland having many million dollar home suburbs now, no wonder we have such expensive construction going on, some is so expensive now, it is prohibitive, hence some pre sales are scrapped and get refunded to the buyers of units. Hence some apartment and other projects stall or are cancelled.

Only state intervention, and land taxes, CGT, rent increase controls and much more can stop the madness of property speculation that we have had go rampant.

But all are ideology driven, that is neoliberally minded, so even Labour does not dare go back to its roots.

The age of alternative facts has been upon us since the early 1980s, but the MSM think they have just discovered this concept now, during the early days of the US Trump administration.
