  1. While it is good to make people aware of this problem the easiest way to stop animal/fish exploitation would be for people to stop purchasing the end products. You only need to read the comments on this site when anyone questions current food choices to know that the desires of appetite are greater than any sense of giving other life forms a fair go.
    I have no objection to those who catch their own fish & give animals a decent quality of life before the inevitable but the various forms of factory farming disgust me.

  2. The mortality rates here are shocking. In these instances there ought to be legal action taken but the New Zealand government in representing the interests of the British Crown are burying their heads in the sand as it is convenient for them to do so and it would be highly inconvenient to prosecute.

    I agree with Anna de Roo wholeheartedly and wish her the best in her endeavors to mitigate the issue here. What people seem to be overlooking in this particular case, as Anna stated, is that fish deserve to have the same status as pigs and cows. Salmon are treated as simply recreational game in a lot of instances and that attitude needs to change.
