  1. Maybe Kiwis would be better off if NZ didn’t give that $20B to Paris, and instead spent it on something like health and education in NZ? Or building some resilience against climate change effects?
    Or the defence budget?

    1. So very true.
And let’s not forget the same Paros climate accord warned against emissions legislation that affected food production but Labour chose to be “world leading” and attack ours.

  2. Nobody should remain in the Paris Accord until the twenty largest polluting nations are close to cutting their emissions by 30%. They kept missing their targets before. Why believe them now?

The road network is terrible (even by 1960s standards), and what the Tories are proposing isn’t anywhere near enough — electric cars still require roads. High speed rail, coastal shipping and fully restoration of tramway and trolleybus services is required as well. Nuclear power stations and C.T.L. synthetic oil production will also be needed to cheaply supply these systems.

  3. Even if everyone changed to EV cars we still need roads .Rail is a good for of secondary transport but with a country sparcly populated like us cannot afford to take rail to all areas so we need good roads for freight trucks.

  4. Not to mention suffocate us all to oblivion with noxious fumes from fossil fueled vehicles; before 2026.

  5. Swing Voters, especially soccer mum’s love 4 lane highways. Doesn’t matter who pays, just do it.

Voters hate Potholes, road Cones, speed restrictions, judder bars , roads with out medium barriers and traffic jams.

  6. More roads won’t lead to Paris payments if the ETS is left to do its job properly. Unfortunately the Greens and Labour keep messing with it.
