  1. This is indeed the problem with a colony founded by the middle class.

    Middle class values.

Maybe we should return to calling them the bougeoisie?

      1. Whereas a National voter would accuse the bird of being nocturnal just to get out of work, and insist a drug test is done

  2. At least it’s not quite so bad as the report that also made international headlines back in the 1990s of concert punters in a certain NZ town I live close to refusing to offer up a gold coin donation to hear some burgeoning band. The Black Crows or Black Sorrows or someone.
“I’m not giving you %©®s a @&£#ing gold coin. Who the @&£# do you think you are anyway? The @&£#ing Rolling Stones?!” One particular local was quoted as saying.

billion to private landlords OR build 2500 State Houses. Of course this trade-off is wasting tax revenues this year and next and every year.

The 2500 state houses would generate some level of rent for the next 100 years and enable reduced taxation.

  4. This is a nasty little anthropocentric blog if I ever saw one. How about having some praise for the awareness of sentience in a non-human creature, albeit one that is an icon of our culture here in Aotearoa. The real hypocrisy is that we can be this motivated over a single bird in a zoo whilst our other animals are trapped, mutilated, run over and slaughtered in their hundreds of thousands every day.
