MEDIAWATCH: Why must we have corporate dick on Sunday mornings?
A 73-word bill that lifts a ban on TV advertising on Sunday mornings and certain public holidays has been delayed, yet again.
It had earlier been couched as one of the easiest and quickest ways the Government could support the media sector – a key plank in Goldsmith’s “immediate” actions.
According to some estimates, the lifting of the ban would bring a total additional $6 million in advertising revenue into the media sector this year – hardly earth-shattering, but a start.
In July last year, the Government said the new law would be in place by late 2024.
That was then pushed out to June this year, because of a drawn-out Parliamentary process. But there’s now no firm date.
Labour has had to support the bill after National’s coalition partner, NZ First, rejected the idea.
Why the living Christ must we have corporate dick rammed down our throats on Sunday mornings and why is Labour helping feed that corporate dick down our throats???
Can’t we have broadcasting on Sunday morning’s and Public Holidays on State media where we don’t have advertisers ramming their dicks down our throats?
WHY CAN’T WE HAVE MEDIA SPACE WHERE ADVERTISERS AREN’T CHOKING US OUT ON THEIR CONSUMERISM?

We are citizens, not fucking consumers, having space in the media where the hawking arseholes of consumerism aren’t screaming into our face every single second is a blessing.

Why Sunday? Any forced rest is getting too close to forced religion which should be illegal just like forced love is.
I was not saying about religion Bonnie ,just making the point that the brake down of society started when we went all out on having the whole country going 24/7 on retail using the excuse we needed to be open to cater for tourists .At least one day a week would be a great start to getting us back on track and less families being tourn apart by the constant need to work and spend to feed the 10% .
Absolutely, Germany can do it and their economy is slightly better than ours. They don’t even let trucks on the road on Sundays. And there a back bench MP gets paid the same as a teacher.
It won’t even affect profits. People only have so much money to spend. In fact, it will probably increase profits as costs will decrease.
Instead of Labour supporting this dick ramming, how about they campaign on removing advertising from TVNZ and restoring some sort of charter that Key removed to bring back some real kiwi content and current affairs instead of the two buck chuck served up now.
Or do they want us all to vote TPM.
