  1. Thomas Jefferson said that preventing other people from speaking shows you are afraid of what they have to say.
If Trans activists are confident in their beliefs surely they welcome the chance to debate with their opponents?
Mark Twain said it was better to appear foolish than to open your mouth and remove all possible doubt.
If Posie Parker is in fact a toxic transphobe then surely the more she says, and the more publicly she says it, will aid the trans community.
Does anyone remember the debates over MMP and the Nuclear ban that gained support for these issues? This was largely because debate revealed that those opposed could justify their opposition.
I can see that it is difficult for people with penises who do not menstruate or conceive children to argue that they are biological women but that does not mean they should not try.

      1. There were hate speech laws in place when hitler came to power.
        How did that work out?

      2. “People who know that sex is real and there are situations where it matters a lot are JUST LIKE HITLER!”

    1. Seymour can’t cut the Spin-offs funding soon enough.

Spinoff as in Spinoff into an altered reality

  2. A secondary school level cartoon.
    Lazy and simplistic.
    Who’s his audience?
And Toby the journalist should know that ‘an amount of non-trans New Zealanders’ is grammatically wrong: NUMBER of New Zealanders please, Toby.

  3. Government Propaganda is just that, the truth is irrelevant.
This is completely unsurprising, there are very very very very very many examples of articles in the MSM that are frank lies, mostly pushing an agenda that weirdly matches the government.
It’s good that the scales have fallen from some eyes over the Posie Parker narrative inversion, but sad and dangerous that we can’t trust the media.

  4. There will be alot of journalists and media pooping their pants if Act get in power.

  5. It’s a stupid piece that talks down to its audience, and badly timed. Best thing for the trans lobby to do is to cool it for a while until all the P Parker stuff dies down. But Spinoff is alike all media – some ill-advised stuff, some hysterical stuff, some worthwhile stuff.

  6. So the Trans feel blamed and scapegoated for neoliberalism, inflation, high mortgage interest rates, job losses, the parliament protest, race relations, climate change – just seems like a very self-important self-view.

The concern parents and the wider population have is the degree of faddist psychological manipulation and genital mutilation of children and teens under the age of 18.

  7. Toby starts wrong by telling us that in OT times the scapegoat was literal while neglecting to mention it was only a shadow of future events (Heb 10:1), the NT tells us to be trans-formed (Rom 12:2) (excuse my miss spelling for emphasis) although this is a very different experience to the trans protests today.
While it is easy to understand people’s rejection of Christianity when most of those who claim to believe show by their actions that they have not been transformed, the early Christian church (before corruption set in) made a significant difference in all their known world (Rom 1:8, Col 1:6) & Rev 18 shows the same experience just before the end of all things. Salvation is free so all are able to participate if they want something better.

  8. Barf worthy propaganda. And not something I want my tax dollars funding.

Not because its trans anything but because it is political, incorrect in its assumptions (the trans debate in NZ currently has nothing to do with ‘punching down’ and everything to do with free speech and maintaining womens rights) and debate stifling.

Stultifyingly stupid virtue signalling whilst doing exactly what it is claiming others are doing to trans people.
Monsterising others. And what a totally boring and ugly cartoon, I wonder how many people fell asleep whist reading it!

  9. Just trying to remember here but I’ve got a feeling that the latest suicide risk figures in NZ are topped by (I think or maybe exponentially growing) by men over 55?

I wonder why??? Clearly not trans women (men identifying as women) as they wouldnt show up in the figures.

Could it be because they are washed up, villified and/or unemployable in this life affirming brave new world. Probably all evil Cis white males who are getting righteously punched ‘up’. Who cares if they top themselves right.

  10. Words absolutely fail me. This is the biggest pile of crap I have ever seen from the Spin-off.

They have really dumbed it down to a reading age of about 9 years old. That’s the level of debate coming from that side.

There use of psychological terms like displacement is so ironic. Here’s a psychological term for you. Denial. That’s what the movement is about and that includes the denial of the bullying and violence against women at Albert Park.

It’s fucking infantile rubbish. Thanks for calling it out Martyn

  11. Kellie Jay Keen did the trick, now more women and men know that women are being ripped off in New Zealand by its own govt. As to RNZ they are totally bigoted against women’s rights campaigners and have lost the respect of many women. Note the male journalist critiquing Kellie Jay? The main voices promoting the loss of women rights in NZ are male journalist.

Since Kellie Jay came women have become quieter and quieter. Like the reality dawned on them.. Nothing funny about men winning in women sports, nothing funny about any man self iding..into female change rooms. Women are especially angry about changes to maternity language. Called people instead of women while male language remains unchanged.

  12. No shit heard an ad on the radio this morning which told me it wasn’t any of my business what is in a trannie’s pants – the world just keeps on getting weirder.

  13. I swear, every time I see something like pregnant people used in context I have less problems with it (and I did used to feel uncomfortable with it). I had to read the covid thing twice to notice it. And believe me I’ve got no love for Te Whatu Ora’s wokesterisms.

  14. Thanks for that extensive critique that parts the seven veils over the body politic. Don’t know what I mean exactly but so many allusions must strike home with one of the cult-like confreres. I’m reading Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett which might seem weird but after a while the narrative reminds one of real happenings in the supposed real world.

Reading a book-paper-artifact is good for that poor little part of your brain that processes words and the imaginative flashes that arise. Gets you away from staring at your devices and primped-up tv presenters with rehearsed comments, light careless easy-going laughter, in their coloured world of beautiful people. What about a give a little fund for the advance of ugly people? Do they get accepted by the trans people or do trans just trot over the bridge quickly so they don’t have to confront the trolls
