  1. Another sad day for NZ Media.
There’s much to agree with above (most of it) but one or two things I have to disagree with you.

Firstly, plagiarism isn’t just about taking someone’s, or some media institutions work and passing it off as one’s own.
Second, there is only one thing I have been disappointed in Willie Jackson for: Fucking up the RNZ TVNZ merger – essentially buying into all that so-called “need” for spending a fortune on consultants. The ‘rebranding/re-imaging/so-called independent advice’ bullshit.

I’d remind youse all that what we get in PSB is pathetic. The biggest problem being the number of institutions complete with various CEOs, boards, HR departments, sales and meerkating teams, and associated ticket clippers on comfortable salaries clipping the ticket and sticking their oars in to provide us with 3 FTA radio networks, and 3 FTA TV networks.
    – Nu Zulln on Ear
    – RNZ
    – TVNZ
    – Kordia (a commercial operation whose profits should ALWAYS have been fed back into the cost of content provision. They’ve been squandered over the years)
    – various others such as Te Manai Paho, MTS, IWI radio who, like the AO/NZ public have been seriously ripped off over the years. (I’m bloody sure I’ve left a few out)
You’ll note also that as content producers – i.e. the peons at the coalface, get picked off one by one, their managerialist, bean counting overlords have (so-far) managed to keep their jobs – no matter how seriously bad and incompetent they are at them

  2. “ The Early hyper-commercialisation of US Journalism saw less than 50% revenue from advertising revenue because the early media in America was highly subsidised.”

Are you trying to say that the journalism was funded by subscribers and sales.
