  1. It’s obvious that NZ’s pathetically weak and politically biased media refuse to report actual facts and continue to dripfeed us “junk”, never saying how bad or incompetent this current CoC are, and certainly not prepared to tell the truth. It’s way past time for “real” journalists to step up hugely and let the NZ people know precisely what is going on, i.e. no more brainwashing or deception or lies! It’s an insult to our intelligence and we’ve had enough. So thanks Hipkins. We must continually challenge our media for their vile ineptitude. Apologies to the media/journo’s out there who are still doing an honest job; you are the minority and we appreciate your diligence.

    1. “We must continually challenge our media for their vile ineptitude”
      It’s not just ineptitude though.
Many/most do like to self=agrandise and hitch their wagon to the cult of look-at-moi, look-at-moi personality and stardom.
And what’s with Paul Thompson and his BFF Willie from the chocolate factory performing yet another rescue mission on the Chipmunk Peddy Gear.

    2. Most of the “real” journalists have lost their jobs a long time ago.

Refusing to fund this by properly taxing international social media / technology firms is a huge part of the problem.

People have said it here before; Aotearoa hasn’t ever stopped being plundered.

  2. I’ve said it before here and I’ll say it again. We need to federalise or at least devolve things like justice, police and corrections to the regions so they can decide what sort of sentencing they need for themselves without Wellington’s interference.

    1. Chris I didn’t read that before. So keep on saying it and giving examples of how that approach would work out better than present, and if they do it elsewhere so we can learn.

And local government elections coming up later, this year, can we set up some model projects that committed practical people can partake in their area to get the idea under way and then a hard look at how it works. A lot of people have ideas then change them halfway though a project. Needed are commitment and nous and the formula – Kindness, Practicality, and Thoughtfulness. Chant – KPT KPT KPT KPT …
All those combined make a good medicine for a sick country.
      2025 New Zealand local elections
      Local elections in New Zealand

  3. Obviously, crime has increased under this COC government shoplifting, drug related crimes, violence and with an increase of drugs coming into our country under this government what do you expect.

    1. Rocket high unemployment leads to crime…thanks National.

  4. If the whole of the western world and their leaders can ignore what’s actually going on in Palestine then anything is possible .

  5. Hipkins was correct.
Our local garage has been raided twice in the last 3 months and the local NZME owned paper reported neither incident.
It was reported on the local Facebook news.
On Saturday a jeweller suffered a smash and grab which achieved a two paragraph report which was pathetic. It should have been front page but no, that was given to Bishop being in town talking to a carpet manufacturer about making carpet for non existent state house builds.

  6. If you can stomach 15 minutes of TVNZ from 6pm. you find very in-depth reporting of the mushroom murders in Australia which we are told, has had the world transfixed for several weeks now. Then there are the floods in Texas which will keep the world transfixed for another wee while. This peppered by irrelevant filler stories, like the weather man leaping around the room jabbering about what he will say later in the bulletin. Then we get a picture of a bombed site in Gaza or Ukraine. Then the orange Dennis the Menace punching the air.
Never a mention of the Regulatory Standards debate because, you guessed it, there is no debate. It’s all Mr. Always Right telling us what’s going to happen.
He’s always the Acting Prime Minister, not deputy PM. There appears to have been almost a coup and no-one’s noticed. I agree, Luxon is eminently forgettable but surely someone’s twigged that the man’s missing in inaction. Surely his colleagues would notice…wouldn’t they?

    1. wHERE IS THE ceo OFF FUCKING UP ANOTHER COUNTRY OR COMPANY .Great CV he has ,Failed soap seller ,failed air line CEO who Failed TO TAKE OVER VIRGIN aus AND THREW HIS TOYS AND SACKED A HEAP OF STAFF THEN BOUGHT PLANES THAT WE CANT USE .Now a Failed PM who fucks off when shit goes down .Where is he ?swaning around in Honalulu when he should be fronting in NELSON .

  7. So the right wing media doesn’t report about unemployment and the destruction of 12000 construction jobs. But has every Labour MP or candidate buttonholed the local journalists in their city, provincial town, electorate and forced this govts appalling record on unemployment and crime into the local newspaper, radio, community website or is it just left to the Wellington office to send an ignored press release?

  8. Frank the people you think are fing wonderful have borrowed more money and haven’t built a thing.

  9. Maybe the people who knew we had thousands waiting for a state rental and knew that it was building an appreciating asset for future generations, instead of basically setting an incredibly large sum on fire by cancelling ships that were vital to our economy then borrowed more money for tax cuts for a select few as well. The only thing that was unsustainable about the English report on housing was his greed for easy tax payer money.

    1. all those cancelled house builds have already cost us a billion so why not finish them .Like the ferry story more money dumped in the cook straight with nothing to show .THE GOVERNMENT OF WASTE AND NON DELIVERY .

  10. Chippy is correct .Just look at the anti Jacinda HATE that Stuff ran for a whole week last week after paying Sir Ian Taylor to write a hate letter to her then calling for readers to write comments and then publishing the ones from the river of filth ALI HAT brigade for the next 5 days .Yet the current government is a joke and National have sold the farm to The rich prick party and the river of filth party .Luxon is a fucken big fail and the only good thing he has done is ensure that there will never be another National government again .
