  1. yeah, i agree really, but they walked into that one…buying yellow stuff has been the safe thing for new babies since the 60’s. They shoulda thunk of that and then seemed ‘edgy’ and ‘inclusive’. Like Spark.

you know the battle is won when corporate’s start advertising their products with a social movement.

Now maybe we can get down to the real battle…financial equality, social mobility and an economy for the people. All people.

    Just saying.

  2. Pathetic!

That particular chocolate was put out to help raise funds for Plunket. Well done Whittakers. And Plunket does what? That’s right it works with babies and mothers.

Are babies not to be genderised now?

Ironically the sailor kissing the young woman after the conclusion of WWII in NY’s Time Square, died only recently. The same image has been immortalized in the form of a statue.

  3. Perhaps Whitakers should create a rainbow chocolate next… Kids would love it for the bright colours. Adults would understand the symbolic meaning on it.

  4. True Progressives – who actually want to make real changes within society – should be utterly furious at the SJW’s. Many centrist liberals and conservatives – and some true progressives – have become (possibly strange) bedfellows as a result of the hateful tactics of the far Left. Anyone whoss value nuanced, respectful conversations about certain topics, who value free speech and the pursuit of truth, and can still retain a sense of humour, should think about a coalition. Those who keep calling people racist/sexist/ableist/fattist, bigoted, and whatever -phobic they can pull out of their pink pu$$y hats – it’s not a way to make friends and influence people, and has hit saturation as a tactic. It has become as racist as the far Right, as “religious” as the Evangelical Right. If you think that it’s not backfiring, look at the deleterious effect on basic freedoms that the regressive, authoritarian Left is having in countries where it is more firmly entrenched than in NZ, and against which the backlash has been slowly underway (the Trump effect, Brexit, burgeoning of the IDW, alt-media and alt-tech…).
Anyway – I really wanted to comment because “the Kissing Sailor”, George Mendonsa, passed away on the 17th. On the next day, a Florida statue depicting the iconic moment was defaced with “MeToo” graffiti…
